Our quilting group ties quilt for charity. We gave 9 quilts last week. Our record for one week is 18 quilts. Mostly for people who had home fires. As we age time often interfers with what we are able to do. So sometimes thats what we have to do. We still quilt about one per year by hand for our members. Marvel

Tied quilts look so cosy. I am making a flannel baby quilt for my dentist who is going to be a dad for the first time and I am going to use thick, fluffy batting and tie it off. I think it will be adorable - just right for a baby.

I just tied a baby quilt. It was a thicker batting. I think it came out nicely!

Yes, I still tie. Not only quilts, but table runners and Pot holders.

Other than some baby quilts that I SID all my big quilts are tied because I am learning on my own and that is all I know how to do. Maybe someday???????

You can even find a tute on U tube as to how to tie a quilt.Also check out Missouri Star quilt inc. site. I was told that the first knot that you bring the threat around the middle twice and then a regular knot or two. I tried it and it looked much better and not so much bunched under the knots. Good luck!!

I tie off the quilts I do for Community Service - it is just easier to tie them since they are "birthed" envelope style.
Easier for me rather than to fight with any dimples or extra fabric.

I tie all of mine because I do not know how to finish on a sewing machine. My grandmother taught me to hand tie using a frame many yers ago. Sometimes I use DMC floss and other times yarn..:)

If you have the book "The Quilter's Ultimate Visual Guide", you can find the Decatur Knot on pps. 258-259. I love this book.

I only tie comforters, for me personally I don't care for the tied, I love FMQing quilts and about all I do.
Tie off quilts if that is what you want to do, no right or wrong way to do things here.
