Yes, I love tying quilts. They work up very fast.

My mom made me a tied quilt when I was young. It was yellow and white large gingham, nice and fluffy. Sad to say, I don't have it any more. If I only knew then what I know now.

I specialize in tied quilts. They last as long as any hand quilted if you take the same care, in cleaning and preserving.

I have a long arm quilting business so I quilt alot of my quilts. Sometimes depending on the quilt I just think they look better if the are tied. Even though I can quilt I still tie just so they have a certain look to them. Besides nothing says made with love more than a tied quilt. It looks old fashion and all hand made. I made one for my Mom for Christmas that way it turned out great.

I just recently tied off a quilt for my grandson's birthday. I am in the middle of making my daughter a quilt that I will also tie. I don't have but a simply sewing machine and it is really difficult to quilt a queen size quilt so I have opted to tie it. It is a lot of work, but I have a quilt rack which helps a lot. I enjoy the quietness of tying it--gives me time to think and pray.

I am so grateful for this thread...I was thinking that all of you were FMQing or sending out to a LAer. I feel so much better now that I know that a LOT of you tie as do I. I am teaching myself FMQ, but it is slow going and I am one of those people who want results...so I tie a lot.

I only tied one quilt and then started machine quilting. I don't know why I don't tie them anymore. I will think some on that.

That is correct you tie it then you bind it. The quilt shrinks a little while tying it. And I also am a fairly new quilter.

I am also glad to know that so many of you still tie quilts. That is the way my mom made most of her quilts. I love the look and yes, they are definitely more fluffy. Machine quilting is beautiful, but for warmth and softness, you can't beat tied quilts.
