I would love to have seen the colored thread. It is different.
If we all followed the "rules" we would never have new ideas, new quilt patterns or anything inovated.
Stay out of that box.
There are no rules when it comes to quilting.
Just some thoughts from So. Cal. :-)

And Carribean Sea sounds beautiful!
Let's see it when you've finished.

The variegated was useful because I was able to see clearly what I needed to work on. It helped me learn how to do the hand stitching. Then, I took it out because it DID show every little mistake even though the colors were gorgeous. I really love that variegated thread. I'm quilting it again in natural and it looks much better this time, even though it is a little boring to me. I LOVE color! So, when I get better, I will remember the variegated for future projects.
Thanks again everyone for your help. Just FYI, I did wash my wool batting and laid it out to dry (did not use the dryer). It did not smell at all.
Thanks again everyone. I have really enjoyed this thread.

Then I will come to your house and inspect the mini wholecloth sewn with varigated thread. Then I will have to confiscate the quilt. It will need to be held at my house for the rest of its life, as evidence of course.

I'm just out of the quilt police station, they told me that you can be accused of creativity, that your stitches will show much more and that as a novice quilter you may have some disciples that will follow your example. They're afraid to be overworked!!!
