As big sister to two brothers who had a "thing" for certain silk fabric, be aware that there are a variety of satins (I found out when my DGD showed up with the same affinity)
What feels satiny to you, may be a polyesther knock off, and it might make a difference - - at least, when DGD was really stressed, she demanded a certain one. Like a wedding gown satin as near as I could figure.
On the other hand, one of my brothers could spot the fabric from yards away that he liked ... and he would make a beeline for it ... and, I doubt the cowboy he sidled up to was wearing a satin shirt, so maybe it was the polyesther that he liked.
But, since my experience is: there are different types of satin - - perhaps putting a variety in would really be a tactile experience in itself <g> .... and, they do sell flag fabric by the yard ... (just a thought) ... what a neat idea and thing for you to do <wave>
