Virtual Quilting Weekend--Apr 16-18, 2021

I put a quilt top together and then, out of exasperation with my fabrics lying everywhere, I cleaned up a bookcase and ruler folded a bunch of fabric. The folded "bolts" all fit lengthwise on the shelves of the bookcase... yay! Still so much more to organize.
I think I'll be quilting tops tomorrow. That, and cutting scrap squares and strips.

You are all welcome, VQWs are good for me, I get stuff done so I'm happy to start them. Sounds like there is quite a variety of quilt related activities happening. Today has been fairly productive. I finished sorting the papers and templates for Distinctive Dresdens (English paper piecing project). The pieces are so close in size, some are like 1/16 different, so it was not an enjoyable process. One of the LQS is thinking about doing Distinctive Dresdens as a quilt along and I wanted to be ready. I also bound a queen sized quilt and made a flying geese border and attached it for my April UFO. Tomorrow will be mostly hand work I think.

Turning in for the night!
Most of today was homeschooling and a trip to the dentist.
Today I trimmed and made binding for one quilt and did a little organizing. Tomorrow I will get back to the basket blocks!

That's terrific! Which old girl is it?
I've got to replace the brushes in my favorite old girl (15-91) and hope that fixes the problem. If not, I'm going to have to find a place to buy a reconditioned potted motor. That's got to wait for now, though - basting quilts first!

Copycat, enjoy every minute with your DGD...7 months is a fun age, but I guess they all are fun ages.
Since DH is away this weekend I can sew as much as I want and not feel guilty. I have 11 of my 21 rows done on a king size quilt I’m working on. The pictures don’t do it justice as it looks gray but they are blues and cream. Edyta Sitar’s Perfect Union.
I did fix the star point in the lower right corner before piecing. 🤪

So much fun hearing from everyone. Love seeing Kristijoy’s baskets and jmoore’s version of Perfect Union and Railroadersbrat’s spiffy restored dressmaker sewing machine.
I got about 2/3 of the quilting done on the big art piece. Hope to finish the preliminary quilting on it today and then it goes back into the painting studio for some “gilding the lily” painting before being sandwiched with another layer of batting and a backing for the final quilting. I also want to get more of the QST blocks completed for my April Debbie Brown quilt- I’m trying to stay on top of completing these quilts from start to finish each month as they are quick, easy, use up lots of scraps and provide me with a steady supply of pieced tops to use when trying out new quilting designs.
