Update: Got a lot done but still have a table full of fabric I'm sorting. But the big items have been placed back where they belong and I found so many things I have been missing. I even swept the floor, I will work on the desk during the week or next weekend. Going to take a break to make Hot and Sour soup for dinner then try and sort the fabric to they can go back into the correct bins. So much better.

Thanks Heather for getting us going!

Hey VQW'ers, just wanted to stop in to say hello, some how I never have the same timing as you all, but I do love seeing what you all get completed. Looks like everyone has had a successful weekend, great!!! Hopefully I will fall in line on one of the future weekends. I didn't work on mask this week and I went got my first vaccine the first of the week.
I am helping a second generation cousin (a Gen-X) learn how to sew, clothing and I did spend some time with her today.
Everyones' finishes do look great and continue in your progress, Heather thanks again for hosting

    Stay safe --cherrybsixty

Lots of progress being made this weekend

Thimblebug - I love the houses, and those colours really pop

Petthefabric - sorry to hear you've been in the wars, but hopefully you are now well on the mend.

Cjsews - that's a really cute bunny bag!

WMUTeach - I'd call that a really productive weekend

jmoore - I hope your vertigo subsides soon. And congrats on the swift house sale. I have been surprised at how many people are moving house during the pandemic - I appreciate that there have been various financial incentives to keep the market going (in the UK at least, I don't know about in the US), but personally we found it hard enough moving house in normal times, never mind with the addition of all of the coronavirus restrictions/problems!!

Rob - you're very seasonal with the green I like it!

I have done some handquilting on one of my WIP UFOs - a pumpkins wallhanging I started last October. Looking at it, I need to take out the last couple of inches as it is a bit too uneven (my handquilting standards are not necessarily high, but apparently higher than that ). So that's annoying. But could be worse.

However, my main progress is finishing the flimsy for my Puffins Aloft quilt, for which I will attempt to attach photos. I am really pleased with how this has come out, and also surprised/impressed with the speed at which it came together. The pattern is called Puffins Aloft by Lily Sweeney of Spruce Grove Designs in Bar Harbor. Because I can't leave well enough alone I changed the borders a bit (added the narrow one, enlarged the outer one). Really happy with this. It's large enough that I will need to send it out to be longarmed, and that isn't on the cards right now unfortunately. But as soon as I can, I'll be getting it done and displaying my puffins with pride

    cjsews--the bunny bag is adorable!

WMUTeach--sounds like you made wonderful progress

Quiltah Mama--we often have lurkers, sometimes I'm one myself

    cherrybsixty--glad you stopped by!

Panchita--the puffin quilt is coming along nicely

I finished the winding ways blocks today and laid them out on my design wall. We'll start assembling them in Friday's virtual class. These curves were much easier to piece than the drunkards path ones. I also fussy cut for some English paper piecing that I will be doing this week. All in all, it was a productive weekend and I'm happy with what I managed to get done. Hope all of you are pleased with your weekend's achievements as well.

    See you next month!

Panchita; love the puffins. My cousin went to ?island where the blue booted puffins are and got the T-shirt. I always thought she was saying, proudly, blue boobby puffins until I saw the T-shirt. Brings back great memories. Maybe I'll get the pattern.

Did not get any sewing done this weekend after all. It is still nice to see what everyone else did though.
Catch you all the next time!

Turned out I was a bit lazy this weekend. Sat. morning I had a long in-person (first for a year) as a rep to the K.C. Regional Quilt Fest happening June 17-19, only to walk out in the pouring rain and find that my one windshield wiper wasn't working. Kind of stressful! Rest of the day I was worthless! Today I did start the actual quilting on oldest g-boy's 3D quilt--he wanted a high loft bat and it's making it slow going. And did 3 more rows on the middle g-boy's 3D quilt too. Then did some prep work on the youngest boy's quilt. My goal this week, besides the next room on my cleaning list, is to finish up the middle boy's quilt top, maybe get the other one quilted. Next week we have dental and doctor appt. since we're 2+ weeks past our 2nd vaccine.

Life hit's us with surprises. Rain, windshield wiper, tripping. And life goes on.
Success! I accomplished all my goals. Just finished the binding on that huge quilt that tripped me. Mostly, I've given up hand work. Too much arthritis in hands and want to save them for really necessary things. So binding is done on machine with the glue baste method. Oh, and found a large pin inside the quilt that had to be delt with. All safe now.

I was sadly sidelined this VQW, which I was looking forward to very much. With all the rain and cool days we've had, if it wasn't my migraines that kept me in bed, it was my swollen, tender knees and for the first time in the better part of 20 years, my left ankle had to remind me I blew out ligaments in it. If I'm not walking slow because my head is trying to implode, I'm hobbling from one room to the other because of my ankle.

That said, when I was able to get into my quilting corner, I mostly watched YouTube, I'm behind watching Missouri Star and found another cute pattern for a needle book from Lisa Pay that I'm working on. That's been slow going, too, since my hands are a mess. I'm hoping to have the rest of it done tonight so I can load it with my needles and call this project finished.
