I pin as you do, but I'm not a leftie. I have to say that it makes more sense doing it her way, but I'd be inclined to leave a magnetic pin catch on the machine bed rather than have them laying there loose.

I pin like the video but I think you should pin the way it works best for you.

I pin from left to right. I have a compensating foot. Which means it has a stationary piece of the foot that lays flat on the bed of the machine. It makes a perfect 1/4"seam. It wouldn't do much good to use pins with the heads sticking out to the right. I sew over the pins. My machines are not computerized.

There is no one right way to do this,or really much of anything else. This is just the way that works for her.Non one is attacking your method ,they are just presenting theirs.

I have always used the method in the video. For me, a "righty", it makes it easy to pull out the pins as they near the foot of the machine. If the other method works for you, a "lefty", and I see how it could, keep using your method.

I pin the same way. That way I don't have to stop & remove pins and because I have a start/stop button on my Brother, my right index finger is always resting just beside that button for a fast stop. Hardly ever use my right hand to guide fabric and I'm sooooo right handed.

I pin the same as her. You have to pin the way that is best for you. There is no wrong way unless you are sewing over pins.

WHO PINS? Pins are for sissies and perfectionists, not people who don't mind ripping out! That's why I have a ripper in every room. froggyintexas
