Walking Foot Adventures
#61
Walking Foot came with my Janome 3300 when I bought it 10 years ago, at that stage I was not quilting and was a little afraid to try it, so it sat in the accessory tray for a long while, then one day I was so annoyed at the hem on the Barbie Doll Evening Dresses stretching that I thought I would try the Walking Foot. I kicked myself that I hadn't started using it from the start, also found it very good when sewing any fabric that is a stretch pile such as panne velvets and velour.

I also have an older pfaff (7570) and use my walking most of the time except for free motion. There just isn't any comparison in my book for this feature. I also use it for many decorative stitches.....just have to remember to change the needle plate from the single hole to the wider rectangle type one or else I break a needle. Can't imagine not using or having one.

Me too! I have an old 1227E that I decided to keep as a back up when I got my 2056. I used to make costumes from stretch lycra and I had so many problems. My then fiancee stopped at a sewing machine store (not quilt shop) and talked to the owner and he told us about PFAFF. Bought one and never regretted it! It successfully made my wedding dress and my sister's wedding dress too. There was lots of satin and lace and all went together so nicely with no slipping!

I agree with you. I wouldn't trade my Pfaff for anything else. Nothing competes with it.

I use mine on my singer basic machine. It is great for piecing, it keeps the joints lined up nicely. It will NOT work for fancier stitches, anything the needle has to move very much from side to side. It is on my machine most of the time.

I use my walking foot to hem sweat pants or any knit fabric. The doesn't streatch at all. Also, in attaching binding, I use my edging foot, works beautiful. I couldn't make it without my walking foot. I have a Bernina and the foot was approx. 60 bucks. A universal one will work, doesn't HAVE to be from Bernina. There are a lot of feet that are universal, as long as you have the adaptor, they will fit and work. Hope this helps. Mary
