Here in Conroe ,Tx They closed the quit dept. in the main store but the one in Woodlands hasn't quit. The Store at Conroe West might as well be closed, you can't get any one to help you. Hugs, Msaster

the walmart in Montrose, CO has fabric now for $8/yard, but most of it is the same price you said. I haven't heard it was closing yet.

I actually wrote to Walmart about 2 months ago complaining that my Danbury, CT store was not going to sell fabric any longer. I got a corporate response that was basically "go pund sand". Althought the quality of the fabric was hit or miss and they had had some of the same fabric for 10 years, I still was able to find good deals. The ribbons and batting were great.

I would like a list of the Walmarts that kept the fabric dept.

My Marysville, WA store now only has one row of fabric. They used to have quite a few rows and sewing items. They were going to close it up but they got a lot of flak about that according to the clerk I talked to. I loved going there when they had a lot of fabric especially for projects that I didn't care about the quality of the fabric. I just made a nightgown and robe with $1/yd fabric I bought before they took out all the other rows of fabric. Just fine for that type of project.

Another quilter in my neighborhood. I'm in China. I did notice that the Wtvl. store is having lots of sales on notions and their material section is getting smaller. Same with the Augusta store. I try and pick up notions that are on sale since money is tight up here in Vacationland.

The two Walmarts near me, Valparaiso and Portage Indiana, both have nice fabric departments. The prices are higher than before. You do have to watch what you get. But, that is true everywhere. (F.Y.I. the Walmart I shopped at Myrtle Beach also still had a fabric department. It was a MESS, but still there.)

We have 3 WalMarts here in Columbia, MO. One store is remodling and thus downsizing the fabric dept. But I was told they would still have fabric. The other two have a small amount of fabric.

Edwardsville, Illinois Wal-Mart still has fabric. They have fairly nice selections with nice sales people. I go there a lot. EllenK
