Warning about cones of thread
#41
have a thread box that snaps closed and the spools and cones are arranged like a rainbow, this is about the only organized thing in my sewing room (or my life) so now not going to feel silly about it......it is a 'safety procedure'. Thank You for the valuable information.

did the repair person say why the whole shaft would have to be replaced for a plastic part? that seems extreme. i'm not saying he's wrong, but i'd want another opinion. any mechanics in your family? as long as they stay away from the computer part, they should be able to get a look at the threads.

now that everyone's been warned, you need to get another price, unless you want to send his kids to college. if he gave you a very high price, then take a look for yourself. you don't have much to lose. if you take anything apart, lay it all out in the same order that you took it apart, so that when you put it back together, you get it right. the manual should have a diagram showing where everything is. if you already gave it to him you should study the manual and learn about your machine. the mechanical part isn't so scary. sorry this had to happen to you.
