I love all of Terri Atkinson's patterns. They are well designed and well written.
I love the Yellow Brick Road because it looks great when you finish it and it is easy to remember what you need.. I have heard about a baby shower coming up, went and bought my fat quarters and made the quilt in a weekend. It works great for those times when you don' have a month to get something made.
I also like it because it doesn't require a lot of thought, I can do one when I'm so busy I can't think straight! The pieces are small enough to look like a real quilt, but big enough to go together quickly.
There are other great quilt patterns, this has just become a "go to" pattern when you need it. It is dependable and it works every time. It's a great pattern.

I just don't know why people are so critical, it really bothers me, obviously this is a very successful pattern , lots of folks love it:)

I agree. This has been a stick in my craw for a couple years. Yellow Brick Road and Turning Twenty aren't even patterns! They are just a bunch of rectangles and squares thrown together. I can do that withOUT a pattern! IF I wanted to! I'm afraid I couldn't be proud of something that was whipped up so fast and thrown together so haphazardly. Even when I'm doing charity quilts, I do something that has more of a pattern to it than that.

Although I am not a lover of the TT pattern one of my class did the most glorious quilt using a selection of batiks and the TT pattern, which were perfect for it, we all have our own likes n dislikes and these patterns deserve to be on a quilters list IMO

It's all in the fabric choices ... I've made several for baby quilts, and my daughter chose it for her dorm quilt. They all turned out great. It's perfect for beginners and it's great when you need a quick quilt.
I think I read that it's the BEST-selling quilt pattern EVER ... simple and quick is obviously GOOD ! :)
