I have used plain white flannel instead of batting for a couple of summer throws. Turned out just fine. Would probably also make a lighter weight full quilt if needed.

I have used plain white flannel instead of batting for a couple of summer throws. It was a quilting flannel that I got from Hancock Fabrics if I remember right. Turned out just fine. Would probably also make a lighter weight full quilt if needed. It does need to be pre-washed.

Receiving blankets, burp bibs, fitted crib sheets and Quilts, Quilts, Quilts. I've made flannel quilts for all my grandchildren (6) and they've always loved them to shreds. Drag arounds, nap friends, car companions. They are sooooo soft and cuddly and they come in many different weights and the children's patterns are endless. I've never made a rag quilt.

I love piecing and quilting with flannel. It has such a soft feel, launders well and is just sooooo snugggly

I have made two twin size quilts using flannel. My dh loves them.

I have used flannel for the backing of TV watching quilts.

Thank You All for the help and suggestions. I knew to wash the flannel first, but only did it once, will now take the fabric andwash it 2 more times. And I like the idea of 1/2 inch seam too.
This is why I love this group. I learn so much, and it helps to motivate me to quilt.
    Thanks again

Don't forget that Chenille works great made from flannel. When you do the Chenille cuts, don't prewash the flannel.

Last year I bought some flannel and fleece, now I know what to do with it. ;-) Thanks! This board is awesome!
