You could do a combination of yellow, blue, and purple. The purple would lean toward girly and the blue toward a boy, so it could go either way.

When I made a quilt for my new granddaughter/grandson,there didn't want to know the sex, so I made a baby quilt with both pink and blue in the pattern. You might try the same using different shades of these colors for each quilt.

I would make both quilts out of the exact same primary color fabrics, both log cabins, but different patterns

I am having trouble getting my suggestions through. I suggest a log cabin in red and white. Babies love bright colors and red is good for either a boy or girl.

I vote for purple. I saw a purple & white BQ a friend was making and fell in love with it. She was using chenille for the white. It was so soft and cuddly.
