I have worked selling machines and to get one thats going to last you it'll cost more than 1000.00 You can get one that makes small designs (Brother/Project Runway/$699.) but within long you'll be wanting to do bigger designs. Just my opinion but I have 2 machines because of this problem.

I just got a great deal on a Brother PE-770. It's still in the box, but I can't wait to dive in. I already have too many hobbies, but hope this will work out!

Most brands carry one in that price range. You should find something you can use. Remember though that the cost of the machine is one thing, all the other things you need to buy to go with it really adds up. I was surprised at that really, I spent more on the "go withs" than on the machine. Good luck and have fun looking, you can try them all out too.

Brother SE270D...it's a PE something now... got it al Walmart...400.00...only a 4" embroidery field...but I love it.

I now also have a Singer Futura CE150..got on HSN for 600.00...has the 5x7 and 4" hoops...love love love it!...You have to have it hooked to a computer to send the designs to...but that's fine for me. I use an older laptop just for that purpose. Look for one with the combo of software...the software is worth more than my machine, if bought seperately.
