If you bought low quality flannel from Joannes' then yes, you will see pilling like mad. Good, quality LQS flannel will look mch nicer and give you a great final product. I made the mistake of buying a ton of JA flannel last year at the Black Friday sale. I've made quite a few rag quilts with it and they look terrible:< Never again! Though, the rag quilts made with GOOD flannel look awesome.

I agree re log cabin, and the quilt I'm currently making. In fact I will think very hard before I ever tackle another quilt in which all the blocks are identical. I broke through my boredom threshold after about 3 blocks...

I will never make a stained glass quilt again. It is still eating my lunch. I will finish it but will NEVER invest the time, energy and money for another one. I keep threatening it that it better be the most beautiful quilt I have ever made. LOL!

I did buy a alot of flannel from Joann's this year, as I am making quilts for a good cause. I am not washing them because the first batch I washed they pilled. I will never buy flannel from Joann's again. I wish I didn't buy so much, but like everything , LIVE and LEARN>
