What quilting related items have you had to sneak in the door?

I regularly sneak in fabric; but yesterday tops everything I've ever sneaked past my DH.
I went to my Mom's quilt show (no, it's not hers, really, but that's what I call it); and one of the vendors was selling jewelry. The beads were made of fabric. Well, it so happened one of the necklaces went very well with my outfit, so I bought myself a belated birthday present, and wore it home. My DH looked right at me when I walked in the door, and never said a thing!

This is so funny. I just got back from Wal-mart and snuck in a table top ironing board and a $5.00 bolt of fabric. I also hide all the bags from the fabric shops and hide the receipts in my underwear drawer. (I like to keep up with what I spent on a project)

I dont sneak fabric either, unless its something that I am making for my hubby. He doesnt mind, although he does tease me no end about how much fabric I have. We also give ourselves an allowance each for each month and what we want to buy, we buy. But if something is more expensive than my monthly allowance, then I always ask....or bargain with him lol. He does the same with me. It works for us

Unbelievable, did you hide it under your coat as you walked past him?
Too funny, I have visions of you quietly shutting your car door, low crawling across the yard, lugging a machine into your sewing house.

My hubby did not know how much I had until we moved into a small house and had to pay for a storage unit to hold the fabric. We have a much larger house now and I still need at least 2 rooms just for the fabric. I work part-time at Hancocks that does not help.

Gee, this is an interesting topic! Yea, I don't sneak either, we never had hid things from each other in all the 36 yrs we been married! He can look anytime at my fabric stash,(although he really doesn't want too), he just put some shelves up today in my sewing room for me after he painted them for me! He always does so much for me, like he made my big board ironing board, he put up pegboard and he fixes my sewing machines when needed! A real keeper he is, we always know about what our limit is on spending, he rarely spends anything, not sure if that is a plus or not! Makes me look like the spender for sure! However if I was ever tempted this would be the week to sneak, I have over spent my fabric budget this month by 3 1/2 times, and just found out a friend has bought me some more fabric at her neighbor's garage sale (a longarmer who decided it was time to hang it up) so you can imagine how much fabric is there for the asking. Yep, I am sure blowing it this month, but I will never hide things from this wonderful man, I would rather he know that yes once again I am spending! I will have several Christmas gifts done and I make some things for charitiy and when the snow flys I will have plenty of stash! It makes me happy and he is always happy with that! I would not ever spend it if we couldn't afford it, I am usually pretty frugal so, I don't feel guilty at all! I couldn't enjoy it otherwise! I am so blessed!

I asked my husband if he minded me spending money on my quilting. He answered no you enjoy it don't you. I said yes. then he asked why you don't spend that much do you and I just smiled. I never hid it from him but did not always leave it in plain site! He was a keeper.

Not trying to be a "debby downer" but...
I know its a different situation but the idea is the same... My cousin was dying of cancer, she knew she was no one else not even her husband and children did though. Anyways she spend all three kids college education, she took a loan against his 67 Mustang Shelby GT500, and she also took a second morgage out on thier house. Every time of this money was spent in a 6 month period at the casino. NO ONE knew she was EVER at the boat spending ANY money. Her kids now have no money for college, the car was repoed, and they almost lost the house. Thank god he makes REALLLLLLLY good money or everything would have been GONE!
The secret is the same, it just all depends on how far you would take it.

That is sad on every level. She went through her last life struggle alone, and her family was left to literally pick up the pieces from her last months of life and mourn at the same time.
