I almost do FMQ on my quilts. I quilt no more than 3-4", no matter what the batting bags instructs. I am afraid the large spaces would eventually cause the batting to break up.

I do like the idea of picking features within the block to echo stitch or just outline stitch.

I also like the idea of quilting around some of the bigger features in each block. Then I would quilt the window "frames" like feline fanatic did because I think this really gives the block depth, emphasizing the frames nicely. As if you needed another opinion!?!?

I think Tartans idea is great. Don't let the quilt intimidate you. We all started somewhere, and when you get it quilted you will know instinctively if you have done enough. Above all, have fun
