I love the threads from Connecting Threads...they have a web site, are fast and wonderful and i have used almost all of their threads and love them they work very well in my regular machine and in the long-arm and the silk thread is a dream for hand work.

I use Valdani Thread for FMQ and whatever cotton for piecing I can get. I live in the boonies so I do all of my shopping online. You can order Valdani threads from their website and it is a Canadian Co. so you don't have to worry about duty etc. www.valdani.com

I've progressed from piecing from Mettler, to Aurifil, to Masterpiece, and finally settled on Presencia 60wt 3 ply. It's fabulous!
For quilting, my personal favorite is King Tut, but it's very expensive. I also love So Fine and the Bottom Line. All three are from Superior Threads.
But you can quilt with anything. I also love using YLI, Isacord (embroidery thread, wonderful to quilt with)and Valdani, to name a few.

I use 100% cotton thread. For piecing I get the thinner stuff and usually get a grey that blends with the majority of the fabric color, for quilting I use a lot of variegated. The one I do not buy is Aurifil. For some reason my machine does not like it and it sheds more than any of the cheap stuff I have put through it.
