Over here in Australia I pay for a good quality quilting fabric $26 - $28 per metre which is at todays rate -
$26.00 AUD = $25.9902 USD

Saying this I can on occassion by fabric from $2/metre but it is generally a case of I have to be there the day the store puts it out at this price or I miss out. Often it is something I wouldn't buy at full price anyway so it is left, has to be something I really like for me to buy it anyway.

Use coupons and keep buying fabric for a local quilt shop.
It has to be really outrageous for me to stop buying fabric.
