I would make them all HSTs and then sew them making diamonds (kind of like the around the world quilt) hope you know what I mean... I've been looking into making one of those.

I'm finishing a Boxy Stars quilt and had lots of little triangles. I sewed opposite colors together and chained them into long stipes for the border. It is bring out all the colors in the quilt but only about an inch to inch and a half wide. None left!

I would have to pick one of Ranger's ideas for the HST's. Start laying them out and see what you get. I did a Zig Zag with my HST's and love the turnout. But, then, I am not a pinwheel fan. I like the quilt to be on the wild side.

Since they're red, white and blue I might play with them a bit to see how you might make them to look like fireworks and put sew them down. You could even have raw edge applique.

Another idea, a friend of mine collected the extras from everybody and made a beautiful butterfly quilt out of them. She used them as the wings.
