SittingPretty--I have a pair of hemostats always! If y'all know anyone who works in a hospital or clinic--I'm sure you can get a free pair! If a surgical kit is opened here, whatever isn't used is tossed, so they are easy to come by. I'm always losing a drawstring into the waistband and they are great for retrieval! I need to pick up another set to keep by my machine for pulling up the loop of thread.

(oh, and 45mm or 60mm?) I would appreciate your advise folks. Thanks for any help.

I use a box cutter for a seam ripper. I find it is safer for me so I do not cut the fabric. Then when it dulls, you just break off a section. I retract it when not in use so I never accidentally cut myself. I stole it from my husband's tool chest and he hasn't ever missed it!
