I have learned through my years of quilting to always buy Olfa or Fiskar blades...the cheaper ones or off brands are usually bad....sounds like you might just have a bad one...I would just change it out and see if the next one works okay...hope your issue gets solved....

did u call the Fiskar customer service? Their rotary cutters have a lifetime warranty, they've replaced several of mine, no questions asked & I didn't have to return the broken ones. They've also replaced the spring in my Fiskar nippers, sending me several springs for future use.

I use all different brands of blades in all cutters. I've never had a problem. I have several worn out Fiskar cutters but they are years old and have given me more service then I could expect. I will not ask for a replacement because I wore them out. My favorite cutter of all is the Quilter's Select rotary cutter. It's weighted and cuts like butter with any brand blade I use. Right now my favorite blades are Olfa Endurance blades.

It could be the mat. I had the same thing happen. I had bought a new cutter at the quilt show and extra blades but it wouldn't cut, it skipped. I couldn't figure out the problem. Then I tried something, I got a different mat out and it cut great. The mat I was using was new, it was one of the large ones from Joann's that fit on top of my cutting table. well it wasn't self healing because the only place I could cut on that mat was a place that I hadn't cut on before. That was the biggest waste of 50 dollars that I'd done in a long time. Try it and see if a different mat makes a difference.
