Quilting ability is the worst flaw I have; not the only one, but the worst. :D

I find that most puckers are caused by different weights fabric. Example: Sew a strip of all cotton fabric with a strip of cotton gingham, you will have puckers.

Just try to stay with the same weight fabric and if possible use the same manufacturer for the whole quilt.
This is difficult to accomplish, but worth the time and effort.

I guess my flaw would be that I hate finishing the quilt because it hurts my arms to move it around. I tire easily so it's a major chore to push that sucker thru the machine or even lift it. I also hate the cutting process.

Try changing the pressure foot to a lighter tension. I noticed that when I start to quilt the whole thing I loosen the foot pressure and I don't get as many puckers. So far it has helped and I now have barely any puckers.

I have missmatched seams, puckers, missing points. I can live with all that but what bugs me the most about myself is that I never finish anything. I have them in all stages from just needing binding to a project box with all the fabric for the quilt in it. I inevitably find a project that speaks to me before I finish the last one that spoke to me. I even have unfinished potholders. How sad is that.

I agree, the older you get the less you notice flaws! We all do the best we can on any given day!! I also have trouble with 1/4 inch seams so I am now drawing lines with a pencil first!!

Oh these replys are all so funny, I could say that my arm is killing me since I pat myself on the back all the time but then that would be fibbing. If something really bugs me I will rip it out 3 times, if after that it still isn't right too bad, it stays and besides once quilted usually you don't notice it anyway - I haven't met a 'perfect' person yet.

Sometimes I'm just too picky. I've been at my worst with this stained glass quilt project because of all the different colors involved (70+) and have been driving myself INSANE trying to match the colors as closely as I can. But I tried improvising and printed out the image in black and white and colored in with the same general colors and it looked a bit off. I figure "Hey, this is my project. I have a vision and I'm going to stick with it and people are going to think it looks freaking fantastic when its finished".

How are you pressing the fabric before sewing? Are all the fabrics of the same fiber/material?
