IMHO it's time to destash when looking at the stuff makes you feel depressed instead of happy.

Applies to any stuff, actually. Not only fabric!

kriscraft99-only 3 pattern cabinets? I've got 7, all full, plus about 20 (65 qt.) plastic totes, full. LOL Although about 4 of the totes are just scraps. LOL

MommaDorian- I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that the cabinets and the totes are all full of FABRIC, not patterns.

I de-stash when the baskets are overflowing onto to the floor.

I hate clutter so as soon as my stash starts to overflow and make piles all over the place I pass it on.
Almost always just as soon as I give it away I think of a project that I want to use it for and I kick myself for passing it on.

I can't bring myself to do that. If someone needs a fabric I have in my stash I can give it to them. I just can't sell it.
