Default where to Buy Fabric

When you cannot find the fabric you need at the quilt stores, which on line store do you favor. By the time you pay for shipping, the cost per yard can be very high.

I really like Fabric.com - they have sales from time to time where shipping is included, but it's not horrible. I also like Missouri Star Quilt Company and Thousand Bolts. When I am looking for something specific the price of the shipping can be less than the cost of gas. Plus the price of some fabric at the LQS can be a lot higher than the fabric online.

If you get on mailing lists, the companies will let you know about sales and free shipping times. Save up your purchases and get free shipping. I find the prices at Hancocks of Paducah are wonderful with a huge selection and even better when on sale. Their Kona Cotton is about $5.50 all the time. This company was highly recommended by another blogger who uses them often: https://www.whittlesfabrics.com/ The Fabric Shack in Ohio is a good internet company.

These are just three. Again, sign up for email and you will get notification of sales and other specials.

Connecting Threads and Keepsake Quilting are both great - quick service and wonderful fabric.

Go to http://www.quiltshops.com

it is a network of several hundred shops. sometimes several shops will have the fabric you are looking for, at varied prices. You get to comparison shop.

I just google the fabric name I'm looking for, to see who has it. I've discovered lots of wonderful on-line shops this way. In my experience, FabricShack has the lowest shipping price and the fastest service.

have you considered taking a look at the FabShopHop?

You look for "bunnies" on approx. 90 sites. There are many good deals to be found on their pages, and it also introduces you to ones that may become new favorites. I know I had no idea some of these existed, and now I have new ones I enjoy.
Just a thought

I second Redstilettos recommendation. FabShopHop is a great way to get to know the strengths of other fabric stores. Be sure to note which are good for what if you see one you like. The shops come and go on the hop but your favorites list is yours to keep.

Fabric Essentials had a big Blow-out sale going on last week. Not sure if it's still on, but good prices there & fast service. Nancy's Notions is having a sale on batiks for $6.97 a yard. Lots of beauties there! A bit slower (about 10 days to two weeks) to get things from her, but worth the wait!! Hope this helps...

Stitch Stash Diva on Etsy has a huge sale area, most of my fabric is from them, two day shipping, LOVE it. They do sales around holidays, i watch their Facebook page. I've done Fabric.com but twice they took longer than a week to ship my order and I've had a few undercut orders from them too so they're my last resort.
