I love to sew and make pretty and useful things. Since I'm retired, I don't need additional clothes. So I'm trying out quilting as my new sewing hobby. I don't need quilts either, but I plan to make charity quilts and gifts.

In this day and age most of us don’t HAVE to make a quilt for the necessity of it…we have central heat / air, gas logs, and usually more bed linens they we know what to do with.
This being said, I’d put a quilt on every bed in my home, (I just need to make enough to do that). I LOVE quilts! I enjoy the process of selecting my fabrics, color schemes, design / pattern layout, and most important, (to me), who the quilt is for.

    So, WHY do you quilt?

Is it for the love of the craft?

The ability to create what will hopefully be a piece of your family history?

    The joy it brings you?

    Artistic expression?

I ENJOY IT LOVE TO SEE THE EXPRESION ON THE PEOPLE I GIVE THEM TO. THATS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME

i quilt because i HAVE to....

i have done cross stitch, painted floorclothes, sewn clothes, sew drapes... they were all satisfying to me...

but i have to quilt...it gives me the peace of mind i need..i think because i have to go to my sewing room, and make time for myself. it gives me something the other crafts didn't

I love the ability to create something different from anyone else. Oh yes, I use the patterns created by others, but the colors I choose and the way I put them together is my choice and I love to see it all come together. And I love giving a gift to my family and friends that comes from my heart and my mind.

Quilting is just what I do...I am retired and live alone. I don't cook, some yard work, housework as necessary...if not quilting I'm looking at a quilt magazine or website. Some might think that I have a boring life..Ha. I can surely avoid trouble and drama buried in my sewing room!
