Do you use Mode 2 - stitch 11-16? What's the difference between this
and Mode 1 - stitch 1? The manual calls Mode 2 stitch 13 and 16
"Patchwork Piecing". Am I the only one who has never used this
for piecing?

I'm going to have to go and look to see what you are talking about. I just do the straight stitch on mode one.

well, crud. I can't find the manual at this moment, but looking at the stitch guide on the machine, I think it has to do with position. Moving the needle left or right.

I use Mode 2, stitch 13 and I set the needle for 3.7 if that helps any. I also use my 1/4" foot with it.

I think a lot of the differences in the straight stiches are their length. I may be wrong, as I don't have my manual in front of me.

Maybe that moves the needle for scant 1/4 inch? I guess we'll just have to try. :)

Thanks, Denise. They sure could give us more details on all those stitches.

I use it all the time. It really depends on what you want to do. I use Mode 1 for all patchwork piecing and use the others if I want to do some kind of fancy stitches.

When I got machine I went and played with all of the stitches to see what they would do. I was wondering about that myself why all those different straight stitches and that's what I've come up with.

I like using mode 2 #13 because of the tighter stitch. It always makes me feel more secure having the smaller stitches.

Have fun!!! Its a great machine!!!
