Wondering about what to do with all the too-small bed quilts

I haven't read through all of these to see if this has been posted but I also went from a queen to a king and I turned the quilts on their sides and they fit across it. You don't need it to reach to the top of the bed just to your chin normally so it works out fine.

I would use a white coverlet and either layer a quilt on top or fold the quilt at the foot of the bed. Here is a link to the type of coverlet I am thinking of:

I would find a plain bedspread or coverlet and place the quilt(s) on top. The idea of a bed skirt is great too. Instead of a quilt from top to bottom, place one sideways on the bed with a coordinating bedspread. I can see that working great too.

I have a similar problem - when I started our quilt, we had a Cal King bed. Now we have a regular King. I am considering adding prairie points all around. Perhaps you can add a small border and then prairie points.

This is also a great idea! Wish I had thought of it!

Great point!
Yes I like this idea too. Some times when trying to enlarge an already completed project - well, it just looks like someone was trying to make it larger. Take into consideration that the fabrics will never match - kind of like "old wine skins & new wine. Just my thought.

Any chance of a photo of your mom's quilt? Would love to see it!
One of the last quilts my Mother made ended up being smaller than she actually wanted.
So she just used the same fabric as the stripping between the squares and made a ruffle. She doubled the fabric, so it's got enough weight to hang well. I like the look!
You wouldn't have to make it a ruffle. Double the fabric (think binding) to the measurements you need and stitch it on just inside the binding.
Hope you find some way to continue using those quilts. Too much work to be hiding them.
