I am making my first quilt with a jellyroll and muslin and using my black featherweight, and it is simply wonderful!!! Also, someone answered my question about the 1/4" foot on this group, saying she used moleskin. Well, yesterday at Walmart I found some (with the Dr. Scholls foot products), and it is soooo great! It has something sticky on the back, so I cut a straight narrow piece and put it on the featherweight so it goes all the way from the foot to the edge of the machine and measures the 1/4" for me. It is thick, so the fabric butts up to the edge of the moleskin.

Good luck! I love my featherweight, and I know the white one will be
perfect!!! Lulie

bebe,
The girls are lovely!
Here's a photo of mine. I've decided to call her Lillian Mae.

Gramfel, I saw on ebay a FW with a ziz zag and button hole attachment. Do you know if they really belong to a FW? I thought they should go with a '301'. I haven't taken the time to check it out. I would think those attachment would be to heavy for a FW. I have a black and a white FW. The white one my DH bought at a yard sale for $75. The sellers thought it was a child's toy. Lucky me, huh.

Gramy, those attachments could really belong to a FW. I have a whole box full of attachments including the buttonhole attachment that came with my Grandma's black FW that I inherited. There are things in there that I have NO idea what they are  but I know they're original because my Grandma was the only one who owned it, and it's the only sewing machine she ever had.

Do you think the same attachments would fit both the FW and 301?

Yes, the buttonhole attachement can be for a 221 (featherweight), and one day I do want to buy one just to have and use. Good luck! Sounds like you have a great little machine - I do love mine!!

I don't think so, the 301 is a slant needle & most attachments aren't interchangeable between the two. Notice I said most so maybe...

Yeah, I didn't think it would work, but I don't know everything (almost).

Featherweights RULE. I wouldn't swap any of them for one of my regulars. Do have a sewing/embroidery machine but don't use it all that often plus others. Enjoy it as they last forever. :D
