I have a green/white one, a black one and a table. You're suppose to run them, so they take turns in my table. I just made 3 aprons with the green one. The stitches are so consistent and it is easy to maintain. I would love a tan one, but have never seen one for sale.

I can't wait to run across a featherweight to buy! I also am thinking a 301 would be nice, but I want to find the thrill of the hunt! A bargain, it would thrill me to know end! I am still looking :D

emmy, I run my Olivia, Penelope and Roxy at least once a month. I sew during the day on my newer machines. At night while hubbie is either reading or watching TV, I sew on the babes. Love my fancy smancy new machines and absolutely love the sound and feel of these gems. Gals, keep looking for these. One of the gals in the Guild has two -- both were being tossed out because no one wanted them! She actually retrieved one of them at the trash bin. Keep looking. :-)

I understand your excitement. I just picked mine up yesteday on the way home from work (I was so excited I had to leave work early!).
I found mine at an auction this past weekend. There were two, one with a case and one without. I had to bid absentee and won the one without the case. She has the manual in beautiful condition and the original feet. She is very nice condition, needs a little cleaning but she runs nicely. I won her and a bunch of older sewing stuff for $140. Not the deal of the century but a pretty good price.
I ordered David McCallum's book so I can maintain her myself.
I hope you have her by now.

I have read everything printed on Featherweights. I love them. I have a white one. Well, Singer did not make a white one, it's called celery green but looks white. White featherweight will have a red S decal, to find the red S decal still intact is special because it is not metal and usually peels off. White Featherweights came with a red thin plastic accessory case with an oil soaked pad in the bottom. White featherweight are smaller then the black ones. Most all the white featherweights were made in Scotland and were still made in the 60's. The motors are sealed, so no grease is required. Featherweight history is very interesting to read. Lots of info online too.

I have two FW, one is black and couldn't remember the other, and low and behold it's white. Didn't know I had such a treasure. DH found it a a yard sale a few years ago. I had it serviced and have not use it yet. I really need to keep mine out and use them regularly. I also have a 301, with all the attachments, which I love, it's such a workhorse.

I'm lucky enough to have 2 black Featherweights. One is a 221, and the other is a rare 222K with a free arm. This is the one that was made only in Scotland, and can be used for free motion embroidery and quilting, and darning. Neat little machine. Her name is Fiona. My 221's name is Maeve.

I also own a 301A, beige and am looking for a black one, that my sewing machine guy thinks he can locate. I love the Featherweights, but sewing on a 301 is great! The slant needle lets you see the sewing better, and it's all gear-driven, so no belt to worry about. I really like my 301. Makes me wonder why I ever bothered spending so much on my Janomes!<G>

I have a black singer featherweight. I love it. I actually don't use it all the time. I use one of my other old singers all the time. But, I would love to have a white one. I need to take the time to post pictures.
