I guess I should modify my reply. I am a scrapper, but not a grab and sew scrapper. I am more of a planned scrapper I guess. LOL... I sort my scraps by color and tend to control my scrappys somewhat by color and theme. I get an idea then I go for it. Smilessss and happy quilting.

Preplanned new fabric quilter until I get enough scraps, then I'm a scrap quilter. Now I have enough of each to be both. lol.

I'm a preplanner mostly. I do do some scrappy stuff. Mostly though I give my scraps to a friend in my guild who makes the most amazing scrap quilts and never buys fabric.

I love making scrappy quilts. You don't have to worry about running out of one of those hard-to-find fabrics later! :)

Oh Scraps is the way for me... I started wanting scraps when I was so young I couldn't pronounce the "S".. and proudly told everyone that "I made this myself out of
-craps".. My mom would try to explain, and I couldn't figure out why everyone was laughing. I learned to sew on scraps.. and then worked in fabric stores for years.. bought up the remenants, more scraps.. In fact I've never bought fabric and made a quilt from it.. I have too many scraps here at home to even think of buying yardage.

I have always been a planner. I would pick my pattern and then search for the perfect fabrics. I currently have at least a dozen projects in separate boxes - patterns, fabrics, notions etc. ready to go. I am currently working on my first scrappy, it is a tumbler made out of 5 inch charms and scraps from my stash.
