I am just getting my sewing room organized and I can see myself becoming a scrapper. I'm got a bin of strips and one of squares. It's much easier to think of doing a scrappy if I can see what I have.

Both. The planned quilts make scraps. Sometimes I try to use up the leftovers from the planned quilts but then I just get more scraps. It's a never-ending process.

I'm a scrapper. Because I can't make up my mind on all the absolute beautiful fabrics there are, so I use as many as I can. I love every color in the rainbow!!

Oh I'm a scrapper all right! LOL, As to why, I really am not sure, except I think it appeals to the thrifty part of me to be able to recycle and use up those bits others would toss out.
And I have such fun seeing what I end up with. The pieces talk to me and tell me where they want to be and I just listen and put them there. I never know where a quilt is going to take me when I start it.
I have never made one from a pattern yet, but have collected quite a few that I love and want to make. I do have a UFO that I started as a project at a sisters' sewing week that I need to finish tho. It's a stack and whack. So that's sort of from a pattern. At least it has rules to follow. LOL
Hugs and smilessssss

I do both. I love to preplan, and then find the use of the scraps is an exciting bonus!

I love both. I am kinda new to quilting but I feel I'm getting a bit better with each quilt. the scraps from my planned quilts always go into scrap blocks and I know there are enough blocks there to make a quilt or two. I even have a couple dozen "crazy" blocks that I started with coffee filters as the foundation. there is so o o much out there screaming to be tried!

Scrapper here!! I can't tell you how many times I've used my saved scraps for appliqué projects. I just love saving those scraps from the trash heap.

I am deffinately a scrapper. Since I go hooked on making scrappy quilts I find it hard to do a planned quilt. I just love the mix of colors. My daughter said there is a difference between a "Scrappy and a Crappy Quilt". I am making Winding Roads out of Quiltmaker Sept. Oct. 2009 and both my girls have asked for a top. They will do theie own quilting. I am having a ball. The more colors the better for me. I even made a crumb quilt and then I used a box of scrappy strips and made the backing like a liberated log cabin. Right now it is hanging at our quilt show. I sure enjoyed making the crumb blocks and the liberated ones. Mindless and quick. I warn you crumb blocks are addictin. It is like making a new piece of fabric.
