I have been reading about all of the wonderful things everyone finds on here at the thrift store so I went to check out a goodwill. The furniture was awful. Simply junk. I ended up paying .99 for each of two pillow cases and bought a table runner in velvet for $3.99 to cut up and make barbie doll clothes for my granddaughter. I will not be going back.

(Gives back to the community): St Paul definitely helped me. About 7 yrs ago - jobs were very scarce to find and after seeing an ad on the side of a bus about hiring people with deficiencies, I contacted them (and of course provided doctor's proof) that I am tone deaf and need hearing aids to cover some normal every day sounds in which I am deaf. I qualified, and not only performed temporary jobs for them (they are fabulous employers - warm and caring about people), but one of the temporary jobs turned out to be with the State and which I just retired from a few months ago. We do check their stores for goodies as well as donations.

Ya gotta watch, they are just like garage sales. Somedays are good and some days are horrid   Ya never know   My philosophy is that it is a big treasure hunt. One of my favorites is Value World, I got 2 quilts there at different times. Another tip is always be nice to the people who work there. Both quilts were extremely well priced by the nice ladies who work there. I always make an effort to talk to the workers, most of the time we have a nice conversation and sometimes when I need a price on a treasure they are extremely generous on the price

There is a Goodwill warehouse in Nashville. They have big bins of things in there that they sell for little or nothing. If you like to root, you can buy some good buys.

Goodwill here is the same - way out of line. Besides they are running a business with new merchandise all over the place. Won't negiotiate the price either. I don't go to find much of anything - just kill time there.

Yep I think they train some of the managers as if they were regular retail. LMBO - same with some Salvation Armys. What is really disturbing is that most of this stuff is DONATED to them so anything they make is gravy. We have a Salvation Army near us that sells zippers for $1.29. I dug thru the bin and found three marked for $.39 and nine not marked at all. That was a good deal - 12 zippers for less than $5. All the Goodwills in the Vegas area are horrible. No clothing for less than $8 and nothing on the shelves that isn't broken. Geezzz.

Our Goodwill NEVER has sales. Some of the stuff has been on the shelves for 2 or 3 years. Fabric is still reasonable. Other things are out of sight

Gee. I forgot the Hospice stores they are good too. Usually neatly organize and clean and great people work there also. It is a great organization and helps many people
The ones I have been in have good prices.

went to Goodwill on Thurs. was looking around, thought prices were high becuz some of the items I know I can get at the dollar store. I don't have a red shirt so I thought i would look for one, I found one I liked the price was 3.99 but when you looked at the middle of the shirt it still had the tag from Wal Mart for 3.00. That was a sign for me to go home. Now I wish I had said something to a clerk.

Well, after complaining about the high prices at the Salvation Army, I visited my local store today. All clothes and bric-a-brac were $1 each. It makes up for the other times I walked away with nothing. And I did score!
