Default “pick any holiday” home dÉcor swap

For this partnered swap, the theme is “PICK ANY HOLIDAY” HOME DÉCOR.

Signups close: August 30, 2013

Ship by date: October 28, 2013 (Delivery confirmation required)

How it works:

*This is a partnered swap for all skill levels.

*You will pick a room of your home in which you’d like a homemade quilted or quilt related holiday item and give me your top 2 wish list items. Just to make this fun for those who don’t decorate for traditional holidays, I’m adding the option that you can pick any holiday, real or imaginary, including illness awareness days and special causes.

*Please make sure that all items have been prewashed and are machine washable on at least the gentle cycle, except wall hangings.

*All projects must include at least 2 different fabrics, batting of some sort, and some part of the item must be quilted.

*All items must be new and made by you, not something you bought, unless it's tag along goodies.

*If you prefer to receive something gender specific, please add that info to your selected room when you send your info.

*Partners will be completely random, outside of allergy concerns. NO REQUESTS!

*PM me when you ship or receive your item! Posting on the thread that you shipped/received will not mark you off the list.

Suggestions for each room:

By all means you can pick anything else that goes in that room that you wish, and a wall hanging is appropriate for almost any room:

>Living room: Candle mats, pillow covers, remote holder, mug rugs, tree skirts

>Dining room: Placemats, table runner, hot pads

>Kitchen: Insulated teapot cover, bar runner, potholders/oven mitts, casserole carrier, can/mug cozy, apron (must have a quilted section or come with matching quilted potholders!), grocery totes

>Adult Bedroom: Nightstand mats, pillow covers, bed runner, bed caddy (to hold a book/magazine, reading classes, and remotes)

>Child (specify gender and age): Pillow covers, jewelry or bow holders, doll quilts, bed caddy, travel case for art pad and crayons or pencils, toys

>Baby/Toddler (specify gender and age, if known): toys, burp cloths, bibs, busy books, play mats, car seat quilts, changing mats/kits

>Bathroom: Tank runner, candle mat, makeup bag, toiletry bag, decorative towels, travel jewelry bag

>Sewing room/Office: Scissor case, scraps/trash bag, sewing caddy, ironing board cover, mug rug

>Other: Tote bag, quilted purse, purse organizer, hand warmers, cell phone cover, eye/sunglass case, legal pad cover, checkbook cover

I am required to insist that participants send me a monthly PM to verify that they are still active in this swap and are working on their promised project.

I am required to insist that participants notify me as soon as they have finished their quilt and are ready to mail it.

Once I have received notice that both partners are done and ready to mail, I will send both a PM to let them know it’s time to mail. If you mail early, you do so at your own risk!

I am required to insist that all participants send me verification of shipment, to include tracking information.

Participants are required to ensure packages will not arrive “postage due.”

Any and all other fees, such as import duties, taxes, etc imposed by the recipient’s government are the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Absent legitimate and reported mitigating circumstances, participants who have not fulfilled their obligation to ship by October 28, 2013 shall be deemed “late” and risk receiving Negative [Swap] Feedback.

Please keep in touch with me as required as well as your partners. Please let me know right away if something happens that will interfere with your ability to complete your project on time.

Swappers should treat each other as friends and focus on the fun. So … please be prepared to be flexible, patient and understanding if necessary and appropriate. Also, remember that an absent partner is no fun either, so if you sign up, you’re expected to stay in touch! Part of the fun is the social aspect!

What to submit:
Board Name:
Real Name:
Phone #: (this is for my use only in the event that a problem should arise)
Will you accept international partners?:
Any allergies?
Is your home pet and smoke free?
Can you take and post photos?
Choice of room (with gender/age info if needed):
Your décor colors and/or holiday of choice:
#1 item choice:
#2 item choice:

Please read the swap rules at http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm.

Once you PM me your info to join, please post in the group so that your swap members can get to know a little about your tastes and needs.

DON'T SKIP READING! SOME OF THE RULES HAVE CHANGED!

Jaba, are you thinking about it? Made me think of the game Abe's Odessee, where the bad guys are drugging the people and telling them "Don't think. DRINK!"

Come on now. Surely you don't wanna wait!

Well good morning everyone! sign up this is going to be fun. I am hoping for something Christmas. Imagine you could have fun making something and ask for something you can gift for Christmas. It doesnt have to be for you! see how many more options there are here??? I think some of the easiest are table runners, placemats or say a little wall hanging? your not tied to a bunch of stuff or things you havent sewn before. COME ON! SOMEONE HAS TO JUMP IN WITH ME!!!! The chat in this group is oh so very much fun. You know you get a two for one here.. first the items we all make, great ideas and all.. then the group itself. I believe that this is one of the most open, honest and friendly groups I have joined. I think you will find this too. Please? join me, I hate swapping with myself!! (surprise factor goes way down)

Okay, I'll let you be 1st since I just PM'd my info. Since my kids are coming around Halloween time this year, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas then so that's what I asked for. A wall hanging or table mat for the kitchen or a runner for the dining room or living room, either holiday would work. Guess I'll have to decorate one room for Thanksgiving and the other for Christmas. That will be a little strange but at least they will be here....to hard to get off work during the holidays for them. The little trick or treaters are going to think I'm totally loosing it with a decorated Christmas tree and packages.

Well you know, you can ask for Thanksgiving on one side and Christmas on the other. Or, one side Easter and the other side Halloween. Or, if you're really a freak, lol, you could ask for a breast cancer awareness and 4th of July! See, the possibilities are endless! I love dual purpose holiday items! I hate the thought that pretties can only be used for a few days, and would rather have something that can be used more than once a year. I was thinking last night that you could also ask for a table mat for "talk like a pirate day" and "shark week" and it would make a great playmat for a gift for a little boy for Christmas. Or, here's some other fun ones...

Today is national smores day. August 4th was national underwear day (Captain Underpants anyone?) To tie in with our deadline, October's causes and national/international days include: breast cancer awareness, vegetarian, "right brainers rule!" (for us lefties), stamp collecting, kitchen & bath, popcorn, raptors, southern food heritage, I Love Lucy, chocolate cupcakes, cats, and navy day. Oh, and don't forget national friends of the library week is the 3rd week in October every year.

Also, don't forget that Cookie Monster day is November 2nd, but his birthday is May 25th, so a cookie inspired item is dual holiday.

I opened this swap up to any holiday, real or imagined, because I wanted us not to be tied to just Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. At the same time, I know that most people will ask for these items. I just want us to have as much fun as possible with this swap and all get something we can either use ourselves or that makes an awesome gift for someone we love.

Anyone who is interested in looking at the national days calendar, it can be found at http://nationaldaycalendar.com/

OK OK, I'm thinking...this could be fun. I like table runners, table mats (at least 24"), perhaps a wall hanging. Of course anything Christmas. ;o) I can't let you 3 be the only ones having fun.

Oh alright, I'm in! PM'ing my info... Have a good day...(and quit snickerin') hahaha
