One more question.... Are we supposed to do the first round as triangles that set the block on point? I see Givio has already done that, so hers would be the exception?

Thank you!!! I am thrilled to join in! I love the challenge and the creativity involved in a round robin. I made my first quilt when I was 21 and I am now retired. I have one quilt the showed in 3 AQS shows in 2010 and 2011. There are pictures in the archives. It was called Crazy About Iris. I will get busy making my center this week. Thanks again!

4Ok, I've sent my address privately, and now I've come back to the thread and see that the list of names is in a different order than the list of names in the private message. Reba, please clarify for us what is the correct mailing order? The list in the thread?

Sewbizgirl, I believe each person decides every round if they want to do a straight addition, or on point, or off set, or whatever. :-) I think the only rules we have so far is an addition of 6" (finished, so 6 1/4" raw), which would be around the perimeter of the top (a total of 12"), to not be lazy but to add something interesting, and mail on time every month...

The top begins with an 18" center.
Round 2 -- 18" + 12" = 30" (plus 1/2" for seams)
Round 3 -- 30" + 12" = 42"
Round 4 -- 42" + 12" = 54"
Round 5 -- 54" + 12" = 66"
Round 6 -- 66" + 12" = 78"

I'm unclear what IceBlossom is doing for the size of her center, so maybe her top will be bigger?

I'd be glad to add a note to Reba's scrapbook. No problem.

Reba, I love vintage machines too. I went crazy collecting them a few years ago and have already sold a few off. I have 3 FWs in different parts of the world, and 2- 301's. Also 2- 201's. I have a 1908 Singer 66 Lotus treadle in a parlor cabinet with lift. Have a 403. Bernina 830 Record from the 70's, my modern Juki 2010Q, and my Juki sit down longarm. I love my machines but I should keep culling the herd of the vintage ones. Not my treadle, tho!

Givio, I just want to say that sometimes, what a piece needs is a bit of applique and a smaller border, so I would like us to have a bit of artistic license to move off the 6" border to make it a bit smaller if the piece calls for it, especially if we put a piece on point or at an angle on point. Also, to add some coordinating fabric if the piece needs it (like some piping to set off a section, for example). Since we are all pretty experienced, I feel comfortable giving all of you that kind of artistic license with my piece. How do you all feel about that? If that is ok with you all, then mine will be a surprise. Hugs and I'm so excited to start! Reba

That post said "Each border should be not more than 6" wide." So, up to 6". I'm open to everyone's artistic license thing too...

Reba, to post pictures on the QB, you have to make them pretty small. Otherwise the upload will just stall out.

I played around with my dresden houses idea today. If I don't love it, I'll do something else for my center.

Sewbizgirl, are you going to embroider on that? I remember seeing a block like that. I don't remember how the house details were done though.

No, not embroidery. I am doing raw edge applique. Just got done doing all the windows and doors and now I can sew the houses together. It's fun! I found a really sweet background fabric in my stash.
