2023 - Birthday Candy Swap (2.5" squares)
#21
We are now 12! Janice McC has joined us for our 2023 swap. As you see, another good 2.5 square user and communicator.
Love seeing all the versions of the 2019 sew-a-long! I will contact our previous leader, Barb Kibler, to let her know her sew-along quilt is still being shared.
Yes, gals, finish that holiday shopping ASAP, and snuggle down and stay warm as our weather shifts to very, very cold and snowy.

Thank you WMUTeach. I’m happy to be back. And as for being a good communicator, I can get verbose at times so that might be a mixed blessing.
I’m attaching 4 pix of tops that contain lots of candies. The last one still needs borders and they all need quilting. I’m great at piecing but quilting is a challenge.

Janice, OOOOO I like the first one. Is that published pattern or one you designed? It would make a good sew-a-long. Not that I don't like the other three. Growing Up Odd (third photo), I have made multiple times and it is my avatar. Tee-Hee-Hee.
I have been working hard to do the quilting on my tops before I allow myself to move on to the next quilt piecing. I too love the piecing much more than the quilting. Channel quilting, wave quilting and crosshatching have rescued me from being overwhelmed with UFO's. Free motion, is OK but.....
Thanks for the vote to extend the sign up period. I will wait to hear from others too. We have time and the holidays are likely filling our thoughts and time right now.

I'd love the door to be open longer to new participants, too. Would that require a new announcement, since the deadline is already posted?
Janice- thanks for sharing your quilts. They are inspiring along with the other 2.5" square quilts shown so far.

WMUTeach, the Giant scrappy swoon quilt was a quilt along a number of years ago. Here’s the link:

I still have my Scrappy Swoon quilt... a large baby size because I used 2.5" squares instead of 3.5". I quilted Trisha's (givio) and hers was a huge top. She used the 3.5" squares the pattern was written for. It's a fun and beautiful quilt.

Great to see you all in here chatting already and I love these quilt postings! I have a bunch of quilts to catch up on!
Nothing but war movies (WWII) going on in the house so I have been trying to gather recipes and ingredients to keep me busy. I was trying to be on a fabric moratorium but I have gone from nine boxes of fabric that journeyed with me to Texas to now having 21 in 6 months. I think I have an addiction issue. Three of the boxes are UFOs and one of the boxes is crazy quilt fabric I have picked up since I got here but I think it is about to get donated. I just don't have the space for it here. Time to get some of the UFOs done. And a new UFO is about to arrive with the New Year -- BOOM 28!!
Time to cut some new candies and get to work on more quilts. The Christmas Tree wall hanging will only use up two yards (1 for the front and one for the backing). That's a good place to start!
Fabric moratorium 2023, here I come.... again. I'm a lurker.
