Count me in for 12. Will be cutting and mailing in the next few days. Yeah! I am so excited about this swap.

Months ago I created the color theme swap and have seen much success and great fabrics sent from one end of the country to another. It’s been fun for me, and hope it has for you, too! Since the inception, I’ve had a lot of requests to do “this” color next, or don’t ever do “that” color or I won’t join, etc. I’ve tried to keep the swap the way I had intended, by drawing colors at random so it is fair and not geared more towards any one particular person’s request. Sometimes we get the same people, sometimes different ones, and sometimes they drop out for other reasons…but we’ve always had more than the minimum amount of swappers, so we don’t get duplicates back. Nice!

What are your thoughts on the process? Would you rather I take a vote during each swap for the next color? We’ve already done Blue, Purple, Pink, Orange, Red. We have all KINDS of things remaining: Yellow, Aqua, Brown/Tan, White/Cream/Neutral, Black & White, Floral, Polka Dots, Brights, Civil War, floral, Black Background, White Background, Batiks, Pastels, Sewing Motifs, Animals, Children’s theme, Primary Colors, Holidays….the list is long ladies. If we do change it over to a vote, I would do so in the room and not via PM, with each participant getting one vote each. No commentaries along with it, just….one single vote. I suggest this so it is transparent to everyone. “Whatever the rest decides” is not a vote. Hehehe.

Your call. Vote? Or Keep drawing out of the hat?
Thoughts? Comments?
(Quote from the "Red" swap thread, post #62, 11/15/17)

Is this the list that we're still going by? I've been pre-pulling my fabrics for them, because I probably won't have full access to my fabric stash once we put our house on the market. Actually, quite a few things have already been put in storage. (Nothing like suddenly needing a kitchen item that you haven't used in 6 months! LOL! ) If I remember correctly, I think "Children's" fabric was decided against, since it would be so similar to the I-Spy swaps.

Looks like solids, anything goes, stripes, and rainbow have been added, as per the post in this thread. What about 1930's repro fabrics?

I'll get my Polka Dots in the mail in the morning. Meant to today, but we had some storms and nasty wind come through early this morning, and it knocked our power out and nearly ripped our storm door off the hinges. It mangled the automatic-door-closer-thingy at the top of the door. Could've been a lot worse, though. We live on the edge of some woods ... mostly tall pines ... and it's a miracle none of the trees were blown over. There were several down nearby, though, causing some road closures while the mess was cleaned up.

Wow, moonrise, the SE has gotten more than it's fair share of weather lately! That makes my most recent oops seem small in comparison. I went to cut last night, I have all my fabric on shelves and most of my "stuff" put away in the studio and CANNOT find my rotary cutter! I've looked everywhere 2 or 3 times. It and my favorite pair of jeans disappeared during the move. The jeans I can live without, it's already 90+ in Arizona; but the rotary cutter is something entirely different! Will be making a trip this evening to pick up a new one... Of course, it will turn up right after I toss the receipt for the new one...

Moonrise, thanks for posting that! I didn’t join in until February so I had not seen it. Red, I like everything you had to say. Random drawing is good. It would be a mess trying to get a color everyone wants to participate with. While my first thought was to not participate when civil war fabrics are drawn because I have none, second thought is what a great way to get a good variety. Hopefully we can join in when we can and be gracious about passing when we can not. I for one really appreciate Red donating so much time to make this happen. I think it is fun and this is a good way to get a feedback score which allows participation in other “games” “swaps” etc on this board. Thank you...

Moonrise, I'm with you, weatherwise. Several inches of snow (will it EVER end? LOL). But at least our power wasn't knocked out. I'm thankful for that. I kinda like having heat when it's crummy outside. LOL.

Faintly: We won't see 90 degrees here until about July. Maybe I need to visit you over the winter. Got any good quilting stores I should frequent there?

Fizzle, we are happy to have you join! Yes, juggling and trying to keep everyone interested and happy can be interesting at times, but I love the women I have met here on the board, so it isn't a hardship for me at all. Besides, it feeds into my need to "pet" pretty fabric, so who's complaining?!?!

I do hope we can keep the board growing and moving again. We've gained some new folks, and lost some old, but I'm hoping the charm swap can keep its head above water and always have enough swappers involved where we don't have to worry about having duplicates.

I have already received two packages: Crispy and Hav4's baggies have landed on my doorstep. My poor mailman must be dying wondering what I'm "buying" all the time. I may have to bake him some cookies or something

Red, you would love it here in the winter! Summer, not so much...maybe I'll come visit you when it hits 120! I am a die hard bargain shopper, so I love SAS fabrics in Tempe. Designer quilt cottons for $4/yard, can't beat that! A few of us AZ gals are going to meet and hit the big SAS in Phoenix tomorrow, then lunch. Wish all y'all could join us!

Keep on with the hat method, it's fair and neutral and nobody gets their feelings hurt! I will be cutting mine today, even though there are still some boxes and organizing that needs to be done...

I'm sorry but I just have to get this out there. It has been on my mind since this polka dot swap started. I hummed it while I cut and sorted all my charms this month:

"....she wore an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini....that she wore for the first time today....."

And that is the only possible cultural reference I can come up with for polka dots! No other songs, book titles or movies!

Thanks for letting me get that off my mind.

I am going to have to look through my stash to see if I have that many polka dots.

I can't wait until you do batiks...I have plenty of those.
Plenty of florals, aquas, pinks, purples, blues and greens.
What about novelty, autumn or fall, red, white and blue?

I would like to participate. I have never done anything like this before, I hope I do it correctly. I think I will probably do 10.
