Hi everyone Happy Friday.

One of the questions was....do I need to use water soluble pen?....I did not. My floss covered it all up. I used a pencil and drew the pattern on lightly.

I think Lucia helped out with most of the other questions. March pattern you do not have to enlarge. There might be one along the way...I will let you all know if you need to do anything special to the pattern.

Also feel free to add a shamrock on it. Or you can wait for the quilt to be finished and add a shamrock button on it.

I would love to know who is making the Birdie BOM.....

and will be very excited to see some photos.

Just wondering....when you cut out your squares did you save a pile for yourself? When I cut my squares I always take the first one for me then I share them with all of you. sounds rather selfish! Gotta have some stash!

My husband is out of town for the weekend so my daughter is coming to spend the night, sleep in ...in the morning and we are going to scrapbook her daughters first year of photos.

Have a great weekend.

Barb

I cut 36 blocks of each, so I have 6 extras!! (I do not count myself in the mailings, since I get to keep mine!)

I'm debating on making the birdie block, however I'm travelling east for part of the month, so not sure I'm going to take the block with me to embroider on the plane. It would be nice handwork and soothing since I hate to fly tho....

I'm cutting fabric for the BOM. Almost done with that. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up each month. If not, I'll eventually get it done. Lol.

So...I cheated.

I woke up early this morning and wanted to work on the March Birdie before DH wakes up. I had some rainbow embroidery thread, so I decided to use my machine instead of outline stitching by hand. I also chose rainbow color charms. Do you see any charms that were yours?

Pink flowers, when you used your machine; did you use your regular sewing machine or an embroidery machine? I like your idea. Yes I see a block I sent. You did a fabrious job on your block. I just love it. I copied the pattern to start working on it next week.

Reply to Barb, I usually cut fabric in spurts. This way I can add different fabric as I go along. As I make up packets, the last 2 blocks goes in my to keep containers. I save more if I especially like the fabric. I don't consider that being selfish, just like to keep my fabrics too. Very few pieces of fabric do I not like 1-20 years later.

happylab, I'm glad you liked my block. Thank you for your comments!

I just used a very narrow satin stitch on my sewing machine. I used my HV Topaz 50, which does do embroidery, but the satin stitch for regular sewing worked fine.

I first tried out some machine quilting stitches with heavy duty thread (black) and it really looked nice. But I couldn't get the turns and curls of the birdie to be a smooth line.

I thought there were a few Winter Charm Swappers here.

Have fun with your block!
