Birthday swap 2017/2018....... Sign Up

The reason mine are so flat in the ziplock snack bags is because I cut 6 strips at a time which makes them hug each other with no air in between, like the way new one dollar bills stick together. Plus, I squish out the air before sealing.

Nice Tutorial MizMelly
Hi All!
Here's how I organize my candies and package them in advance.
1. Here's the 50 different candies that I cut using my AccuQuilt 2.5" die. I cut 36, so I will have 6 extra sets this year for other swaps, etc.

2. Then I put down a sheet of plastic wrap, stack two rows of 25 squares side by side, and then push the air out and seal the package.

3. Choose a birthday card that I buy in bulk from Amazon and slide in the package of candies. The cards are blank at this point. I personalize each one as names are handed out for the month.

4. I slide the card into a 6" X 9" envelope, and it's all ready except for the addressing and mailing!! I make sure to keep the thickness at less than 1/4" due to postal regulations. The 6" X 9" envelope is the largest that goes for the domestic first class 2 oz rate ($.71). I buy two sheets of stamps at the beginning of the year at the PO, so it cuts down on mailing and buying postage every month. So there is how I do it and keep it all nice and neat and ready to go for the year! I hope this helps some of the new folks with some ideas how they want to do their monthly mailings!

I've had mine ready for a few weeks now. Most were wrapped in regular plastic wrap, but a few were wrapped in Press & Seal. I had a little Press & Seal left from the previous direct-mail Boom swaps, so I was trying to use it up rather than throw it away. This is the first time I've heard of any issues with it. Oh well. I unwrapped the Press & Seal ones, and re-wrapped them in regular plastic wrap, so they're good to go now.
I use plastic wrap to help prevent handling damage, and moisture damage, should the envelope somehow get wet along the way. I also feel like it helps keep the squares in place inside the card. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I worry that they'll all shift to one side, making the envelope more than 1/4" thick, which could either cause the envelope to be returned to me, or (worse!) cause the recipient to have to pay postage due. Yikes!
Anyway, I received the PM with the birthday girl's address, and will get her envelope in the mail in the next day or two.
