Love your fabric pick, Joan. And the piece of green will help us choose a matching green.

Kass, I think that's the most beautiful violet I've ever seen! It doesn't look real, it's so perfect.

Here is the fabric I found. I’m wondering if I should ask that fabric choices be limited to those matching the birds, flowers, and white or wow? I’m not in love with the green tone they used. Black or bob would be good too. What do you guys think?

Its always the hardest part, picking a coordinating fabric. If I was you Id enclose a piece of fabric of any of the colors you want so you wont have "too much" variation in colors...Just my opinion. I love the birds!!

Sewbiz what a sweet thing for your DIL to say.

My dd’s Loved their towels and they had a lively conversation on who’s was the best. My dgd had a fit when her mom actually used the towel. She thought it should have been kept as a decoration

Joan I purchase designs mostly from Ann the Gram, JuJu, urban Threads, Emblibrary and Embroidery Panda. Almost always on sale.

Kids have all gone home, I have the decorations off the tree and plan on spending the afternoon pressing and bagging fabric for one of the two booms. Colors will be purple and red orange

Do you know how you will construct the quilt? Do you plan on sashing? Do you have an idea for a specific setting?I ask b/c if you are leaning towards any of the colors you are trying to decide between for sashing you might not want it in the blocks predominantly. Also people are likely to fussy cut these birds how will you feel about the bird color if it is the main part of the blocks (prominent in the fussy cuts and in the other fabric)

Great questions Kass. Here is the fabric I got to go with it. I was thinking about alternating squares of this with the boom blocks.

I ‘I also got enough of this fabric to do sashings or a border:

Im not sure if I should sash the blocks if I alternate them?

im thinking of sending a swatch of the bird color and yellow and asking that people use predominantly those colors....what do you guys think?

I love your fabrics, Pamela! And your layout plan! I don't think you need sashing if you are alternating blocks... but you'll need to make that call when you get your blocks back.

You can always say, "please match the peach or yellow, or use black or white... but no green or gray." You can get as specific as you want, but be prepared that not everyone will follow instructions to the letter.

That's going to make a beautiful quilt!

I think if you are alternating blocks since this has a dark background I would go light w/ the color requests for the bird blocks, like white / wow, and either the light blue or the yellow. I think the over all look between the alternating squares will be light / dark checker board type.
