Sewbiz, so sorry to hear about your fur baby. 20 really is a long life for a cat.

I am so sorry about your cat SBG. 20 years is an exceptionally good life for a cat.

Sewbiz, I’m sorry your kitty is no longer with you. I agree it does sound like she did the natural thing and went away from home to die outside.

Sewbiz so sorry about your kitty. Sounds like she had a long and happy life and went out on her own terms

Thanks everyone for the condolences. I miss my kitty’s sweet companionship. I am glad she went out on her own terms.

I think those reminders throughout the day are the hardest, when you do something that they would normally be right there with you and now their not. So sorry for your loss, but 20 years is a long time for a cat.

I was ready for this. I didn't cry but I did worry and I have been sad. Last night I thought I saw movement past my feet on the couch. Kitty always came down and got on the couch with me when I finally landed there each night. She would jump from the stairs, over the end of the couch, and walk up the couch to greet me. When I thought I saw movement last night it was like she was coming, like every night, and I just cried and cried when I realized those nighttime greetings were over... Life goes on. It will get easier with some more time.

I get it, SBG. When noon comes, sometimes I still jump up and think, "I need to get mom's lunch," and then I realize I don't have to and I get terribly sad for a few minutes. Grieving comes as it comes but there's no way around it. The way is through it. I still sometimes think I see our Gracie cat in the corner of the room occasionally. Who knows if she isn't just visiting, at least in our hearts.

That's a great way to look at it. Thank you.
