Boom 32 Squirrels

Me again. I finally have time to sit in the parking lot at the grocery store and log on to get your pix. Unfortunately, almost all of them are huge files and so will probably not get into the gallery today. Please shrink photos to 100 to 200 kb. I'll have to do that at home as I don't have a lot of time today. I'll add in those that are smaller and continue working until my hotspot dies. This not having internet is getting very old and my patience is thin.
Have a great rest of your day!

Janice, thank you for the trouble you go through to log on to QB for us! I hope you have your internet restored soon. And good job, powering through those Boom quilts... I have a couple yet unfinished.
Today is sew shorts day. I agreed to make some for a lady in Arkansas who wants them for Operation Blessing shoe boxes for kids. Plus I have a few boxes of my own to finish. The shorts are fun and I get to play with some of my cute yardage.

Well, a nearly miraculous thing has happened. Now I can get internet through my cell phone as a hotspot! I walked in the house with the cell phone and realized it was still talking to the computer! It seems we've had somewhat of an improvement - for now at least - in internet. Could be temporary. We've had internet come up like this and disappear hours later but I'm hoping this is a permanent improvement. WNC is all about little steps now.
Everyone is welcome for the stuff I do behind the scenes. SBG, you know it well having run group swaps plenty of times. Shrinking the photos are the largest time consuming bit I do so I adore it when all of you are able to help me.
Happy news! I have a good person with ties to the local rescue groups for a new dog. She actually works in my PT's office and is willing to put some feelers out for pitties. We'd really like a smaller one which means a pitty mix. Had a strong lead today but someone else snapped her up before I could get to her. I hope we find a new dog within a month or so.
I'm off to shrink those photos and add them to the gallery as long as the hotspot still works in our house. Good heavens, all the internet companies are trying their best so it's hard to stay upset with them for long.

Ibex, These two are for you. I was so glad to make two blocks for you! I love Halloween! My first boom fabric, I gave everyone was Day of the Dead ( (Día de los Muertos) fabric. I think the boomers had a lot of fun with that.
For Halloween I give out books to the kids and we have a dinner for 20 people on the driveway, where we can watch the kids pick out the book they want. We have about 70 kids trick or treat at our house! I use the table runner I made with the boom blocks at that and I hang up the wall hangings I made with the rest of the blocks on Halloween too. So I think of you boomers that day!
These two are my go to Halloween blocks. I got this picture off the internet.

Good morning. Hot spot still works so I was able to move all your pix to the gallery. It's up to date - I think. It's entirely likely I missed a pic or two or mislabeled some so don't hesitate to let me know.
I've got the Bunny Love binding on one side so today I'll finish it. Then I'm going to take a break from Boom blocks and work on a couple of tops that need regular quilting, not QAYG. I've gained enough confidence in quilting all those Boom blocks to go ahead and make a new try on a flimsy. Makes me nervous though! My last try didn't produce the best result.
I've already had a person request info on the next Boom, Boom 33, can you believe it? I imagine I'll start signups in mid-to-late January. Same format.
Have a good day, Squirrels.

Yay for your hot spot still working this morning, Janice! I feel so bad for you and all your fellow Helene survivors! Our small town did a huge donation drive for NC, and I know many communities across the country are too.
If my life stays stable (like no surprise pregnancy again! Lol!) I am interested in joining the next Boom. I tie-dyed some yardage that I think would be a fun fabric.
Does anyone have any experience with children on the autistic spectrum? Our oldest daughter (age 8) has just been diagnosed with autism and I am definitely seeing signs of our little boy (almost 2) of being on the spectrum as well. It's all the learning curve for us. We have great support through the school system, so I feel very blessed.

NZ -- gut biome is all the rage right now with autism. Try adding a probiotic to their milk for a little while and see if it helps. My grandson (5) has been identified as being on the spectrum and he is the pickiest eater so I am not surprised that his body may be missing nutrients needed to let his brain function "normally". There are tons of families in your position right now. You are not alone!

Janice I use to take all pictures with my phone and when I would send them you had the option to change the size. I would size them and send to my I Pad. I no longer have that option so I sure hope my pictures aren’t to large. If they are pls let me know and maybe hubby can figure out what I can do. Darn software update
NZ my granddaughter wasn’t on the spectrum but she had many of the same symptoms and also attended many classes with kids on the spectrum. Abby is now a sophomore in college and plans on being a teacher for kids on the spectrum, she said early intervention was the number one thing they keep stressing in her classes.

Janice, I apologize for my pictures probably being the culprits. I resized them as far as my phone camera would shrink. I found a website that shrinks pictures down to custom size, so hopefully this block for All2Pieces is better.
All2Pieces, here's another block for your darling birdies!
Ibex and Terriumn, thanks for the information and encouragement about autism.

Hi all, yes, I knew that October was going to me hairy for me. It is all good; while watching the poor people in NC from Helene, I simply cannot complain about ANYTHING. It is just overwhelming to see what they are having to deal with. My childhood friend has been working for a national airline for 35+ years and made me her "enrolled friend" this year (like a spouse) so I can fly anywhere, anytime, on standby for free with her seniority. It might never happen again. My kids can then fly on a buddy pass, so I told each one to pick a dream location for them and we would go for a week. September was Tokyo with my daughter, October was Salem and Cape Cod with my flight attendant friend, which was on her bucket list, then this past week was Honolulu with my son, then Houston for the IQF, then November will be Johannesburg with my oldest (he is paying for the safari). We fly on Tuesdays or Wednesdays because we fly standby/space available. I'm trying to fit all of my normal regular work for clients into the days between trips and it has been insane. In Hawaii, I had a contested court hearing at 2 a.m. Honolulu time, outside on a deck, while pacing back and forth under a motion sensor light, in a pinch for another lawyer (worked out ok). That's why I got as many blocks done as I could immediately, because I have only a few weeks in between trips now before they are due. I'll try to be better at posting in the next few weeks, I promise. This is just a once in a lifetime situation these 3 months, my friend isn't 30 anymore and has had some serious health challenges, as someone mentioned, there are health issues all around as we get older. I had a flea problem several years ago when we had a drought, I eventually had to have the house treated, I was told that dry weather brings them inside and makes things 100% worse. They are nasty little buggers; I hope you are able to get rid of them. And a big big hug for everyone who has had health challenges themselves or with their families, and for those who are affected by these nasty hurricanes. And prayers. <3
I can imagine how frustrating the lack of Internet is, Janice! My husband is on his phone every spare minute and I think lack of internet would drive him insane! Would library books or a movie from the library help? I've really been into audiobooks lately.
This past weekend my Hubby and I were busy cleaning out our garage and sheds. What a chore! I think Hubby took something like 6 truck bed loads to the tip. Nice to have our sheds back! Famous last words "we won't let it get that bad again!" Hopefully we stick to that!
None of us have been bitten by those pesky fleas for about a week, so I think we have the infestation under control. I gave the house another deep clean and vacuum. I think it's safe to sew all of your blocks again! Here's one for HAV4BOYS.

Wow, great blocks! Mjp, your orange block will be perfect. No worries!
I got around to assembling the blue and purple floral. It turned out well but I see a couple of things I’d change and be more cautious about if I were inclined to take it apart, which I’m not. Tomorrow I’ll bind it and call it done. I’ll get DH to help carry the weight of it when binding. I get a much better result when he does.
Had a rough day, missing the pup, but the time is coming to find a new one to love. Maybe in another month or so.
Internet is “supposed” to be up within 24 hours but you wouldn’t care to bet on that, would you? Later!
Have a pleasant evening.

Great block
NZQ, these are beautiful blocks!
I’m sitting in front of PT and picking up internet on my cell. I have half an hour until my appointment and I plan on catching up with fb and the QB.
I worked on the Bunny Love quilt. It just needs its binding. Pic below. Then it turn out I have only 2 more sets of boom blocks and I’ll finally be caught up with them. Of course, I’ve got other UFO’s to do too but boom block are my focus currently.
Went to a local winery last night a bit before sunset. It’s on top of a mountain and luckily had little damage from Helene. Others nearby were not so lucky. Anyway, it was a beautiful evening. We need to do more fun things.
Got to run. Have a good day!

Update on my sister, she is still in the hospital and still needs more healing. Her Insurance will not let her heal at home with a visiting nurse (she is on TPN and antibiotics) so she might have to go to a nursing facility for a couple of weeks. My mother went to her home for the weekend, she needs a break.
Weather is changing here in the north and our furnace goes out, yay. Looking for a repairman to give us the verdict on getting a new furnace or repair. Seeing as we had issues last year too, hoping we can swing a new one.
I have been working on the dinosaur quilt for my nephew
