Janice your square in a square is going to be great.
Ibex glad your power was restored so quickly, sounds like it was another whopper of a storm. When we go into Mexico we park our car in the US and pay I think $1.00 t0 walk across the bridge to Progresso. I have a friend from Minnesota who works for Bob Cat and her company flies her to Reynosa now and then.
Sewbiz sorry about your hand, patience and pain do not go hand in hand, sorry no pun intended.
We are going to have a very quiet New Years Eve, for the first time in years we aren’t going to play cards with friends or go to the dance here at the park. No traditions here. We had never had collards till Sewbiz talked about them. I tried cooking them once and it wasn’t very successful now I hate to say it but we buy it seasoned in a can and add it to my soups

Happy New Year everyone! I will be sipping something bubbly as the ball drops if I manage to stay awake. Ham, cabbage, black-eyed peas is our traditional menu in some combination throughout the New Year's Day. It is said that whatever you do New Year's Day is what you will be doing for the rest of the year so I am going to sit at my sewing machine for a few hours working on sashing my patriotic BOOM blocks. I also plan on playing with the grands as much as possible.
Has anyone see the movie, Wicked? It is gorgeous! The scenery, the costumes, the music -- all of it is dazzling! I highly recommend it to you. It is only half the story with the second half coming out next year. I read the books when they came out in the 90s. Glinda and Elfaba become great friends in this first half. The propaganda that turned Elfaba "into a wicked witch" is more heavily focused on in the second half of the movie but there are hints in this first half.
Sewbizgirl, more movies for you and DH. I hate that your hand is in such bad shape. If you have mentioned an accident that caused it to get this way, I missed that. I am so sorry. The 7th cannot get here fast enough.
Janice -- I can't believe they haven't scheduled you, yet. I wonder if it is because the hospital was affected by the hurricane or perhaps personnel is still missing to have a full surgical suite. I hope you hear from them soon.
Bring on 2025!

Amen, bring it on!
No accident to my hand. However, I have been knitting and crocheting and the pattern I was knitting causes a lot of repetitive motion in my left wrist. The wrist never hurt, tho. My hand just went numb. Then yesterday it started to also hurt deep in the middle of my left palm. I started wearing an old wrist brace we have, just to stabilize it. I am a bit paranoid about my bones, since they told me I had osteoporosis last year. I won't take Boniva or it's like for the osteo, too many horrible side effects. Just gotta be careful and trust the Lord to keep me together.
Looking forward to the Rose parade tomorrow. Tonight... not so much. Hope nobody is popping firecrackers near us.
I'm back to finishing up the Boom quilts that got put away for Christmas sewing. Got one more Bee quilt plus the two Party Animals quilts to finish putting together and then quilting.
Keep your doggies inside tonight. Many a pup has been lost during fireworks, due to the noise.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Welcome 2025!
Almost made it to midnight, fell asleep reading on the couch about 11:30 but woke up at midnight with all the fireworks. Not pretty fireworks just plain noisy ones. Poor doggies with their sensitive ears.
My sewing room here is a mess, to many things going on and I have to find a home for everything instead of just moving it from one spot to another. That is today’s mission!
Have a great first day of the new year

Me too, Terri, Kind of anyway. My grandkids are sleeping in that room right now. I had to move all the furniture around and put away much of the sewing stuff away. I usually take the time, after their annual visit, to do a week long organization of my sewing room. I’ll be thinking of you Terri!

Janice, I’m wonderig when the next boom will be. My grandson is going to block print some muslin fabric. Then he will choose some quilt fabric to go with and I’ll send it off for the boom. BUT I’m not sure how long it will take him to do the block printing. Then he will have to mail it from Omaha and I will cut it into pieces. I’d like to do the next boom but we might have to wait until the one after that will be. I think this will be a very cool quilt.

Happy New Year! I am trying to learn how to take decent sunrises and sunsets with my Iphone. This one is from this morning. We plan on being out in the desert for two weeks and then in Rocky Point Mexico - on the beach for 10 days. I will have plenty of chance to practice.
We plan on leaving either Friday (when my RX refills are ready) or Saturday. Going to Tucson first to visit BIL at VA Home and plan on taking our dog in to visit residents. She was trained a few years ago and I would bring her into nursing home - and then Covid hit.
Janice - you are more important than the boom. If you need help please let us know. We have done it before, we can do it again. We are family!!

Yes, Happy New Year's to all. I had a lovely evening with friends who yielded to my dietary restrictions. (Fewer sweets and high calorie munchies this year.) Nothing serious, just a high protein and moderate calorie weight loss plan under the guidance of a doctor. The loss has made a difference in the amount of knee discomfort. Not a full solution but it helps. Any way I will be doing the binding on a quilt this afternoon and evening. Fingers crossed that I can get it done today.
I hope y'all had a good evening and lovely day today celebrating as you wish.

Good evening! I was piecing for a few hours today. What fun to make color blocks from my candies. I’ve done purples, I need to finish sewing my greens but I’m making the yellows for a break from green. I might have them all done by the end of the weekend although it may be wishful thinking.
MJP, I planned to start signups on the 12th of this month (I believe) but I’m still waiting for a surgery date. It’s possible that I might be able to run the swap but not participate. I hate to commit a group or two and end up disappointing everyone. Once I get a surgery date, I’ll try to figure out the dates.
