Boom 32 Squirrels

From time to time I just set aside a few days and only work on wrapping up a project or two and it looks like I am super productive. NOT SO! I am just finishing what has been cluttering my work table, bins, closet, baskets and project boxes. Like right now. I have two finishes ready to layer but those have been hanging about since early fall.I am a life time member of the UFO group on the QB. It is good motivation to get'r done.

We are up and car is packed but we aren’t going anywhere for a while. We are still fogged in and thankfully hubby said we will wait it out. Hoping I can find a small sewing project to work on this morning. Tried to reacquaint myself with one of my needle punch kits but my hands cramped up 15 minutes into it. Put it back on the shelf.

Safe travels, Terriamn. I don’t envy you that long trip.
All is quiet here. DH and both dogs are still sleeping. My three boys. lol.
Still cannot decide on a binding for Shattered. Light fabrics don’t work and darker ones are too stark. Haven’t found a good medium yet. Might just throw a lighter red on it and call it done. I’m ready to start something new.

Off to my quilt work day with my group in a couple of hours. I am ready!! Two tops, batting and backing cut for layering with my bag packed with tools. Featherweight loaded in the car. I am also taking along piles of HSTs from charm packs and that have been decorating my storage shelves for way too long. If time allows, they will become a top for a donation quilt. Looking forward to some productive time with friends! Got to work on what is laying about in my sewing room before it is time get creative with Boom blocks. Tee-Hee-Hee!!
Later my Boom friends!

So I fibbed, turns out hubby said oh it’s not to bad we can do it. After 4 hours of squinting and trying to stay on the road he had a nasty headache. Could we strop and wait it out….of course not. Continued to drive in and out of dense fog. Saw one horrible accident at least 10 cars there helping , right on the top of an exit of one major highway to the Kansas City turnpike. One fellow was in handcuffs. Didn’t help the mood in the car any. Normally when hubby is crabby I am smart enough not to say anything to egg him on but I’m just as crabby if not more so. Do you get the idea we are having a lovely day

Two quilts layered and one donation top half! Tomorrow I will be quilting a 2.5" square quilt like a crazy cat lady so I can get one more "finish" by the end of the year! Terriamn, I hope the next lap of your journey is clear of fog, accidents and head aches. Dinner, silly movie and a good sleep might be in order.

Terriamn, I hope this finds you and hubby tucked into a comfortable hotel room and getting some much needed rest. I’m not sure there’s anything worse to drive in than fog. I hope it lets up for the rest of your journey.
I did start a new quilt top. An inspiration pic is below. Only takes a few minutes to sew a 6-1/2 inch block. Easy peasy. I dug through my 2-1/2 inch squares for some centers. Hope to get a dozen or so done tomorrow between dog walks and football games.

That is a beautiful inspiration quilt, Janice.
Terriamn, you two will laugh about this trip one day. Be sure to eat something wonderful before hitting the road today.
We have no electricty this morning. Heading out on a coffee run. $12,000 is too much for a whole house generator.

Ibex, the whole house generator is great - while it works. Ours failed during Helene due to the fact that it needed to be shut down daily for several hours and have its oil checked and refilled. No one informed us of that teensy tiny little detail and apparently no one else around here got that word either. Of the 6 WHGs in the neighborhood, 2 completely failed and one was close to failing until DH warned everyone about shutting down (a fact we learned after ours died). One ignored Bob and hers was the second to quit. Oh, well. Live and learn, the hard way. Ach. Apparently I’m still annoyed about it the lack of communication of vital info from the installing company and Generac.
Speaking of storms, we’re getting a whopper now with tremendous rain and high winds. Luckily it should cease in a few hours.
I’ve pulled more fabrics and am having a nice morning cutting and sewing. Great way to spend a stormy day.

Didn't know generators were so expensive! Hope you get your power back on soon, Ibex.
Janice, the storm you are having must be the same storm front that came through here last night. It was amazing to see it on radar... just a big wall of storm in a vertical line, moving across the country! We lost power for about 6 hours. I'm thinking about the men who were out in that terrible weather to fix broken lines... thanks so much to them!
Love the new quilt plan, Janice. I love black and white with a pop of color!
Terri, I hope you are having a much better trip today, and get to Texas without any trouble. You and your hubby are brave souls to do a 24 hour road trip! I don't think I could do it, at this point in life. Let us know when you are safely there.
