Well, received some news today. I’m going to need knee surgery as all efforts with meds, pt and injections did not help the meniscus tears. It’s not unexpected. At least it’s arthroscopic surgery, minimally invasive. Recovery will be 6-8 weeks. Nothing is scheduled yet but I’m hoping this will not mess with the next Boom. Don’t know how I feel about the surgery. Partially relieved that I’ll get the chance at solving the problem or worried about the recovery and the PT involved in it. Uggg. Has anyone had meniscus surgery done?

Janice, the one person I knew who had meniscus surgery recovered very quickly and well. In his case, they also did it arthroscopically, and trimmed off the jagged parts of the meniscus tears. He was good to go after that (and PT and time). I believe you will do great with that surgery, too.

This is the same plan, to cut the rough edges of the tears. Doc said it should actually take about 15 minutes outpatient. I’ll be good to go in a few hours. Crutches will be necessary for the first few days but then I’ll be putting weight on it and having PT. Doesn’t sound too bad. Guess I’ll find out. But main question is…when can I sew??? lol.

I have had it done on both knees. The surgeon is important. One knee was done by a skilled master, PT and good recovery. The second done by a younger doc that did not send me to PT. "You can do these exercises at home" handed me a piece of paper and sent me on my way. It still is a pain in the knee. My opinion is that he was doing as many knees as possible and did not like the follow up. That was 15 or 16 years ago. The first doc retired so I could not have him do the work again. Would I do it again? Absolutely. The continual pain is debilitating. Get it work done, do the PT and in an amazingly short time you will be doing what you want do without pain. My experience was that in 12 months, I seldom thought about my knees until age caught up with me.

Be brave and get on the schedule to have the work done. You can always learn to drive your machine with the other foot.

WMUTeach, thanks for the info. I’m going to have it done, just a matter of when they can get me in. I honestly hope it’ll be sooner rather than later so I have less time to stress about it.

Janice I agree with you the sooner the better.

We are home snug as a bug. Not thrilled about the temps but have endured them for years so I just have to pull my big girl undies up and go for it.

Started changing over the bedroom to Christmas decor. Told hubby someone had broke into the house and took outer red Christmas fuzzy blanket. He said let me get this straight someone broke in, didn’t set off the alarms and took only the fuzzy blanket. I said yes that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Wonder where the heck I put it.

Oh, Terri, that's a good one. I submit it is gremlins or elves and they have hid it with the missing socks and keys. Oh yeah, the missing glasses and pattern and the special scissors and, and, and. Just wait until you find the red fuzzy blanket and all of the hiding with the other stuff, you will be thrilled.

Cold here in Michigan but we are supposed to get into the 40's this coming week. There goes our lovely snow.

We decided the elf on the shelf hid my Christmas throw but I outsmarted him and finally found it. Unfortunately none of the missing socks were hiding with it. I t was folded up nice and neat in one of hubby’s dresser drawers that he doesn’t use. He looked at me and said there is no way I put it there. Guess I will be ordering my notebook to write my memory losses earlier rather then later.

Two sets of cookies made and a third I will start after lunch. Taking it easy trying not to stress myself.

Tonight we will be going to our local ski resort for dinner and to listen to our friends who the entertainment for the evening. It’s in the 40’s so the roads should be good
