Has anyone had meniscus surgery done?
Janice, sorry to hear about needing surgery, but once it over you should be good as new. I pray.

Whew! Just finished sewing an ordered quilt top. I spent the entire day yesterday and today (and the two evenings before that) sewing this sucker together. It's a "Lover's Knot" by Eleanor Burns. Confusing pattern, plus it's set on point. Sigh. I didn't charge enough.
The lady bought one I had for sale on Etsy, and then wanted another bigger top for her grandson. So I made a very generous Long Twin. Should fit just right. This is it:

My extra piece of fabric I ordered for Party Animals I came in. Maybe tomorrow I'll get back to finishing up that quilt, then figure out something for Party Animals II.
I'm still working on the yellow Lorelai Bee Quilts too. I am re-doing what I had finished so I can make two smaller ones. My local guild meets Saturday and I'd love to have one Bee quilt to gift.

I have Christmas gifts mostly taken care of, or at least ordered. The only person I need to shop for is hubby, who needs clothes and slippers. It should be fun to be out Christmas shopping amidst all the gaiety (I hope!)

Grandkids are still small enough to want toys. I had a ball picking out the right dolls for each of the girls. They also are getting some magic tablets they write on and then erase (like a higher tech version of the little pads we drew on and erased by lifting the top page--remember those?) The littlest boy is getting some press and go cars, and the older one is getting a toy tractor. They will get magic tablets too. And I'll probably buy some clothes for all of them. Trying to enjoy it and not stress out.

Merry Christmas to all....

Sewbizgirl, that quilt is beautiful! It sounds like you are going to be busy from now until Christmas. I'm glad you're working on holiday items. The presents for the grands sound perfect.

Sewbiz, very fun quilt and sounds like you have your holiday under control

Janice glad you have a tentative idea of when your surgery will be. When I had my last surgery I was very fortunate to be one of the last patients to have non emergency surgery when COVID hit

My car went in for planned warranty work, it could be in for a week to 10 days no problem. Oh and oldest who always check her flights with me forgot and is scheduled to fly in on the one day hubby is taking our other car to his friends cabin. Told her she needed a back up plan. Not a thing I can do about it.

I was looking at some Michael Miller fabric online for the next boom, it was so pretty but need to think baby.

We ran errands today from 9:30 to 3, got home turned off all the lights and closed the blinds. Nasty headache. Not sure if dehydrated or what but feeling much better now after a long nap and drinking water.

Hope everyone is staying nice and warm

Lovely musical evening with my grand twins playing in their high school band holiday concert. She plays oboe and he plays euphonium. Some pop Christmas and one of Russian folk Christmas carols. All so lovely.

Terri, it is cold here in the mitten and getting chillier by the hour. Looking for another dump of snow tomorrow which will be fine with me. I can always wrap gifts and play my Pandora Christmas stations. Oh and I could work on a quilt or two., or three, or four. Tee-Hee-Hee.

Good morning, Squirrels. All is well in WNC this morning although DH and I had a horrible ride home in pouring rain last night from Asheville. We made it safely but it took twice as long. The grands were in fine spirits and Charlie, who can be standoffish at times was in a cuddly mood. Wow, was that nice!

Terriamn, hope your headache is gone after a good night’s sleep. It’s unfortunate that DD didn’t confirm plans with you first. I hope she comes up with an alternative.

SBG, love your quilt! The setting looks like it’s a challenge but you pulled it off beautifully. Making two quilts out of the Boom blocks is now my favorite way to go.

Wmuteach, I’d love to see some snow here! Unfortunately it might make things much worse for some folks who aren’t suitably housed yet following Helene. I wish it would just snow in my neighborhood! Hope you enjoy your wrapping and music and maybe some quilting.

Thank you to A2P. Her block for me that went missing arrived in my mailbox yesterday so that was a pleasant surprise!

Today is a Christmas party for about 15 people at a friend’s house. Am looking forward to it now that my cheesecake is done and looks good. Still cannot believe I messed up the first one yesterday. I’m not usually so distracted.

Sewbiz, Beautiful Quilt.

I have been sewing bowl cozies and kitchen towels for the adult family members for Christmas. I made Christmas pillow cases for the two little ones. The teenage kids all want money , easy peesy.

Hello to all - Enjoyed catching up on the chatter. You all are so busy getting ready for the holidays. This year we won't have any family here so I haven't bothered to decorate. I do hang a seasonal flag in front of house so that is it! I did try a three new recipes and all three didn't turn out - so will make my DH his sugar free cheese cake and leave it at that.
We went to the parade on Saturday (night parade was last week, and this was during day)
In evening was the lighting of Courthouse plaza. Before switch goes on, the kids all climb up and stand on stairs and sing in between the reading of the Bible Christmas story. A 70 year tradition! Really marvelous.
Gifts this year is a year pass to indoor waterpark in Vermont for my sons family, Daughter getting Membership to Bible Museum in DC along with concert in PA. I usually put some trinkets/candy and $5 for each child (which I fold origami style). They will send me photos of them enjoying it all year long!
Made of pot of soup as nights are getting cold. Still warms up during the day so no complaints here.
I did put sashing around each perfect Boom block but haven't laid them out yet.
Yesterday our quilting/craft group got together for a small pot luck. Played Left/Right/Center and I took home the pot $30! Will be looking for sales on new rulers.
Enjoy

What is your favorite Christmas cookie? I don’t think I could pick a favorite

We had a light dusting of snow. Our lower level always stays pretty darn chilly, hubby who would prefer to wear shorts his entire life is in sweat pants, warm slippers and a heavy fleece sweater. I’m upstairs baking wearing shorts and sleeveless shirt sweating away.

Made snickerdoodles for the first time and boy are they yummy. When oven cools enough going to make the pretzels, with a Rollo and pecan on top and might frost the cookies I need to mail. The containers to mail are darn near full. We might have to brave the cold on Friday and drive to the town about 20 minutes to mail them from the hardware store. UPS ground is much more reasonable on heavier packages then USPS.

Still hoping I have time to sew my grandson some hot pads. He loves to cook and enjoys the oversized pads I make him.
Have any of you heard of Cookie butter? It is like peanut butter in a jar? Tyler said he is into it big time and I ordered one online for him. Hoping he will give me a taste when he opens it up on Christmas Eve.

Our very good friend who has been fighting cancer and had the life changing Whipple surgery stopped by today. Oh my gosh he looks so much better. His is still way too thin but no longer pasty white. He has been declared cancer free of the Thryroid and pancreas. Now he will once again be starting chemo to try and beat his last major obstacle of Leukemia. So thankful for his good attitude and his tenacious grit in fighting for his health.

Thx. for the break, now back to the kitchen
