I have oiled and cleaned two of my machines. One more to go. I love the quiet hum and once I get going on your blocks I forget to clean. I use the Baby lock for paperpiecing because it has the tread cutter. I like my old Berninia Record for piecing because I can move the needle. The featherweight has the perfect scant 1/4"foot too.

Back to heat wave. Really has everyone just dragging. We are only at mid 90's - I don't know how those who live where its over 110 deal with it. Today I refilled the 4'wide dog pool and just stood in it while filling. Ahhhh

My favorite and always in our fridge is thin sliced cukes and onions soaking in 1/2 apple cider vinegar boiled with 1/2 cups of sugar. I usually soak the cukes first in cold water and salt, then drain and pour on the vinegar syrup. I usually leave some water in with the vinegar. It depends on how many I have.

My new Army PFC grandson is home for a visit. It’s been a year since he’s been home. I went to my daughter’s for lunch (I made pizza) and SIL took us around the lakes, Freeman and Shafer, for a great ride. Perfect temps in the upper 70’s and the sun broke through the clouds twice. It was a fun ride, even if the girls let a bag of Hershey kisses get blown into the lake. I caught the little life jacket that came sailing past my head! My daughter is headed to Maine to pick me some blueberries. Well actually they are on a quest to the the National Parks now that they are empty nesters! Picking blueberries is a request of mine. Even though I do like Michigan berries.

My seam allowance is a scant quarter, normally perfect for this block. But no. When I add my final pieces to the last unit, no seam allowance at the point. I don’t get it. Obviously I’m doing something wrong but I cannot find it. I guess I’ll step away from it for now and look at it again in a few days. I feel my sanity slipping over this block.

Just had to vent my frustration to boomers who might understand. My friends here wouldn’t get it since they don’t piece. Ugh.
I completely understand the frustration of block construction when something does not go your way. It's happened to me on occasion.

Love both blocks, beautiful. Mine is perfect. Thank you so much, Thrilled.

Our shrimp boil was a complete success other than hubby making way too much.

Anyone have any cucumber recepies they would like to share, these last couple days of sunshine have been a real boom for them.

Today is supposed to be the last summer feeling day for a while. We stayed at the lake and will enjoy today but looking forward to the week of cool fall temperatures

Janice I will have to try the Aunt Diana block again, it’s the middle section that goofs me up.
I would also love some cucumber recipes. I have a bunch picked and more ready to be picked. I thought about making my granny's sweet pickle recipe but it takes days to make and multiple steps. I am not that motivated.

Cucumber Salad with Sour Cream Recipe: How to Make It

This is a good recipe that uses cucumbers. I have made this one several times this year. I have used sour cream, and I have used Greek yogurt.

Thank you, Lstew for the recipe. DH buys a lot of cucumbers and they don’t always get used in time. This recipe looks good. Glad you like the blocks. The leaf block is the one that gave me apoplexy but I changed it and all is well. I like it, too. The fall colors in your F8s provide lots of color options.

GramE, fresh blueberries right off the bush are the best. My son and the family recently went on a walk and found a patch. Next year I’d like to go, too, if only for the berries.

“My” hummingbirds are very active at the feeders this morning. Am sitting here with coffee enjoying the show.

Two packages are due today and the final one tomorrow. Yippee! That means I’ll be sorting this weekend and making up labels. Will try to get them out on Monday but it might be Tuesday. We’ll see how it goes.

Today DH and I will be going to a local restaurant for Cajun food and music. It should be fun.

Have a good day!

Two of the three remaining packages were delivered. Hav’s and Nelco’s arrived. GramE’s is the last one taking its time but is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Looking good.

The food and music were very good. I had red beans and rice with andouille sausage. We were outside and even the weather cooperated. A good time was had by all.

Our grandpup will be heading home this weekend. He’s been an excellent guest.

I'm off to finish a block tonight. I’ll post it over the weekend.

Well, someone has to be last. But in my defense the original delivery date was today. But I sure the merry go round known as Indianapolis took its toll on the time line.
