Our granddaughter is dating a guy whose family hails from Louisiana. They are going camping ... for just 1 night, lol, that to me is a heck of a lot of work for just 1 night. But hey, these youngin's have a whole bunch of energy that I can't fathom anymore. So with him coming down to visit, I thought Louisiana blocks were in order. I was thrilled to have the points all come together in the center.
TERRIAMN -- This really shows off the Rodeo fabric to me. I also thought the "spinning" wheel was like a bronc rider
.
SEWBIZGIRL -- Your note said we could also use "Taupe" and that is what the label said on the fabric...in person it "blends" better than what the photo shows. I truly hope it fits with your overall theme.

lol! Just had the most magically funny interaction with the installer who could not install our new microwave because the space is too small. He heard the current one was installed in 1989 and he instantly knew the new one wouldn’t fit. He had us roaring trying to get the old one out which, it turns out, we may need a contractor for because it’s screwed, and bolted and clamped in. For such a disappointment, those 15 minutes with him were the best 15 minutes of this month so far! He needs to be a professional comedian! What a riot.
Anyway, onto blocks. Moonwork, l love your blocks for Terriamn and Sewbizgirl. I like the bit of taupe. I’ll add them to the gallery along with one of my own for Bibliostone. I held off posting it because I wasn’t that happy with it but Bibliostone approves and her opinion counts more than mine. It’s below. It’s not wonky, just on an uneven surface. This is my last block for the group although I might make a couple more for myself.
Have a good rest of your day.

So Janice, how are you going to get your microwave installed? Cut a bigger hole? Glad you enjoyed your installer guy!
Moon, love your pinwheels. Thank you for my block! It looks great with the additional color (taupe).
Janice, love your block for B'stone. Very pretty... what's not to love? And congrats for finishing your blocks!
Looking at the blocks posted makes me want to get out my second set and start on them! But I must be good and finish quilting my big quilt, and today I also have to bind a Walkabout quilt for donation tomorrow. (My local group is meeting.)
Hubby and I just got back from the post office, where I mailed two Chatty Cathy dolls off to the doll repairer. She's going to make them talk again! And replace missing teeth in one. Love my Cathys.
Have a great weekend, everybody, and a Happy Mother's Day to all of our Moms!

SBG, love the walkout quilt. it’s so pretty! I don’t recall if you said who the lucky recipient is. We need to find a microwave that’ll fit the smaller space. Probably have to go down to Greenville SC to a large appliance store to find the right low profile machine. The small space is probably why it’s not been changed out by the previous owners. The installer laughed when he heard 1989 and told us before he saw our new one that we’d need a specially sized one. Oh, well, it gives us something to do next week. I hope your Chatty Cathy’s will be speaking soon. I haven’t seen one of them in years.
I’ve got another block for myself on the design wall. I’m loving the blocks so far. The light brown looks surprisingly good with the f8. I am trying to stay away from a patriotic quilt feel so feel free to minimize that look.
Later, Bloomers!

I’ll show you a picture of my Cathy’s when they come back home. I was so tickled when I found a lady who opens their bodies and rebuilds their elaborate voice boxes. The voice box has an actual record and needle and speaker inside! Talk about old school….

Janice, the Walkabout quilt is going to be donated to a local hospital, probably for the organ transplant unit. We donate there and to Mississippi Children’s Homes, for kids with no families, and to cancer patients for their chemo treatments. Thanks for asking!

SBG, I’d like to find a place locally to donate smaller quilts instead of giving them to Project Linus for use in Asheville. I’m going to see if there’s someplace closer to home, my own county would be great. The Guild only wants twin size and that’s a bit too large for me to make frequently. I’m more a lap sized quilt maker, something I can do start to finish at home.
We’re going out to dinner with the grands and their parents for a joint Mother’s Day dinner a day early. Anyone else have any special plans for the day?
