The pattern is called Square and compass, the pattern that was wrong was a quarter circle, but the instructions referred to a 1/8 circle. I tried running with the 1/4 but it was too small. After working on it a bit I realized I had to add 1/2 inch more for seam allowance. Results was a perfect Block. I was really excited to have figured it out thou!
    Fun and colorful fabric choices!!

there are so many great blocks to make and i haven't seen them all nor can i know of all of them plus i don't want to limit myself to only the blocks that i am familiar with. so for me, i would prefer that the block maker use their creativity in making a block from the fabrics i send. i do ask that the block maker use quality fabrics that will hold up to use and that my returned blocks are 12.5".

proper cutting and sewing a 1/4" seam are key to creating an accurate 12.5" block. if you do not have a 1/4" sewing foot you can mark off a 1/4" seam on your plate with blue painter's tape (easy to remove) or use a pack of post it notes (creates a blocker & easily removed) at the 1/4" seam mark. these are just some tips to help get the right seam allowance.

it is easier to square up a block to 12.5" than it is to fix one that is less than 12.5".

Allright! I am ready. Just packaged all my F8ths and they are ready to fly to their designers homes. Can't wait to begin.....I calculated my yardage needs wrong, but luckily I bought what I thought was 'extra' fabric and I had just enough to send out...

Never was real proficient at math...oh well

I am doing the small group. So 2.5 yards for 15 f8s. I had thought 2 yards and bought 2.5. Probably did it wrong but the pieces are correct. So, all is good.

    2 yards = 72" divided into 18'= 4 cuts
WOF is 44" divided by 11 gives 4 cuts
    4 x 4 is 16 pieces

I think 2 yards is enough
    yes?

That's making the assumption after you wash the fabric it's still 44 WOF. I usually wind up with 40"-42"

The shrinkage is the key. So you get 3 11" cuts
