Now, JAMH, will you be "finishing" the edges of your llama? Im just curious, I am doing iron on applique, then adding a hand sewn decretive stitch.

jamh....do you have a blanket stitch on your machine...or a zigzag...or a blind hem stitch? You would use one of those and you go around the little parts exactly as you do the bigger parts.
However...if you don't want to..you could send you blocks as they are I guess....since its blocks....if we wanted to go around him when we get him...we could just do that... I'm not the rule maker though....

I wasn't telling you, JAMH, that you had to finish the edges, I was just curious as we all do applique our own way. If you do a couple and dislike how it looks, change it. Learn from the process of making 12. Or send them unfinished and we can do them ourselves.
I may be the "rule maker" in this swap, but I also abide to the "we will all do the best we can" theory. For some people, not "finishing" the edges IS the best they can do.
I, For this swap, will be fusing my sheep, then doing a running stitch- by hand with embroidery floss- about .25 inch from the edge. Since the "style" of my block is "americana primitive," I am ok with a raw edge. (I hope that's ok with the other participants. I also think I'll be making 24 sheep rather than 36. If I get 24 gone, we'll see. Sheep are over whelming my living room. Lol!)

Also, I don't want anyone to feel pressured to make a block any certain way.
Everyone, make your quilt blocks to the best of your ability, send the quality of block you would like to receive. Thanks!!
